I installed Ubuntu 19.04 alongside Windows 10. Now I can boot both Windows 10 and Ubuntu. All features work in Ubuntu too. AMD graphics GPU and Intel integrated GPU are both running. Intel GPU is used per default, you can switch to AMD GPU for gaming, but you need to install a separate AMD driver first. The default open source Ubuntu driver is not very fast. You also have to get used to the keyboard, there are no dedicated page up / page down buttons. Shift keys are also rather small. HD+ screen is very bright, viewing angle is rather small though. After all a very good buy for the price, if you are planning to spend as little money as possible for a most recent up-to-date laptop with a 17 inch screen and decent performance.

We like it and glad we got it . Still getting use to it. Have 2 small problems ( the electrical cord is short and the bigger problem is the USB ports are close together --so close we cannot use both at one time-strange

After shopping for two months I knew I was getting the best computer at my budget of $400 with i5 processor, 1TB, and 6GB within my budget. All the other competitors only offered i3 processors and 4GB of RAM at this price. It’s the laptop that meets your needs because of its storage and enough speed to work as a family PC. I will admit that it’s not “sleek, fancy, or touch screen”, it just simply gets the job done; and at our budget, that was exactly what we were searching for ( quality internally). We were willing to pass on the external aesthetic features and touch screen/ upgrades but NOT on the brains of the PC. This was the perfect fit for our family.

I purchased this about a month ago, and I'm glad I did. I'm retrired, and needed a unit to surf, pay bills, etc, and this does everthing I ask and then some. Set-up was simple and fast. The price was right as well, I didn't have to break the bank to get something that will last. I do recommend getting a wireless mouse.

Excellent product for the price. I especially like the 6 gbs of memory installed. for todays computers u need a minimum of 6gbs to 8 ! the camera seems basic but works well for it s features. installed apps work fine ..and windows 10 was easy to set up For the price one can not complain we are happy with the purchase !

Purchased from the Lenovo website, delivered fast, and had the drivers and system updates applied in 2 days. Had one major operational problem a week alter when the system would only boot up in a minimum configuration (couldn't find hard drive. The Lenovo online technical chat desk did a great job getting the laptop operational within an hour. I am very pleased with the laptop, boots fast, runs fast, and wished the battery lasted longer however.

The battery life on this computer is less than 2 hours. In order to replace the battery you have to take apart the entire computer. Definitely NOT recommended.

I have had my new 17" Ideapad for about 2 months & I love it The bigger screen makes a lot of difference!! This was an easy process from start to finish. I ordered it directly from Lenovo. I received it right on schedule. I was able to set it up myself & start using it right away! The new Microsoft Edge is a great feature. New features are easy to understand & use!! Lenovo has everything covered!!

I bought this for my kids to use for papers in August of 2016. Used very few times, maybe 10 as they'd rather used iPad. Sept 2017, using for a power point presentation Andrew it dies. Exactly 13 months old ( or new). Called Lenovo and they tried to help, but couldn't. It's out of warranty and nothing they can do. Do not recommend this product or brand.

I bought the Intel version of this laptop for each of my kids, and this AMD version for myself because it was a little cheaper. I set it up as a dual-boot Windows/Linux (Ubuntu 16.04) machine without much trouble. I'm a retired software engineer. and this is plenty fast for me, at least when running Linux. Don't like: Windows 10. I prefer WIndows 8.1. Don't like: keyboard. Keys seem too close together. Don't like: touch pad. I'll get a mouse when I get around to it. Recommended: yes, with a few reservations.

I had been casually researching Laptops for a few months.My fancy new custom Desktop with SSHD has been in the shop more than in service lately,so this has been a great purchase. Works great for basic web surfing and e-mail applications.I also have used it with a TP-Link Router,and the range seems good.I am impressed with this as a no frills computer.

If you are looking for a basic, powerful, no frills laptop, this is the one. Clean, simple, and plenty of hard drive. The only issue I have with it, is that the SHIFT key on the right is too small so I constantly hit the arrow key, but that is something I can alter with time.

quick startup from being shut off. About all the software included I need to do my average operations. photos ,dvd, movies, etc. I was even able to make a software program work that was designed for xp pro operation system even better than my old laptop.

The screen burns too easily & the right shift key is in poor placement b/c I keep hitting the up key instead which drives me crazy. Also it has been freezing up lately but that may be my internet server & not the laptop.

Used this computer for about 2 months now, everything is good except the above. Has to be the shortest power cord I've ever seen with a computer, not sure why? I continue to hit the page up key when trying to hit the right shift key. Terribly placed, bad enough to not buy it again. Too bad because happy with the operation of the laptop.

I wanted a large screen laptop for general usage and some picture editing. The specifications for this laptop are a good value for the price. As other reviews mention, the placement of the right shift key is ridiculous for those who type without looking; but I was able to download a free program that allowed me to reassign the shift key to the arrow key to save my sanity. I have only had the laptop for about a month so I cannot comment on the reliability yet.
