Just the tool for video professionals, the AVS-816/HDD 16x2 1RU HD SD SDI Switcher with AES 75Ohms Audio Follow is a high-performance, wide bandwidth video/audio vertical interval switcher. It's engineered to handle HD SD SDI video and AES Ohm audio with precision, offering a compact modular design that supports sixteen channels of HD SD video and AES audio.

This versatile unit allows for digital and analog switching modules for both video and audio to be mixed in any combination, providing complete system flexibility. The non-looping inputs deliver exceptional return loss performance, and for HD SD SDI digital applications, two outputs are available.

The AVS-816/HDD is equipped with a single switch on the front panel for selecting audio and video break-away, with dual LEDs on the source selection and follow switch indicating follow or break-away status. This feature allows users to efficiently route or delegate multiple video and audio signals economically.

The AES audio inputs utilize BNC 75 Ohm connectors, and the unit can be fitted with either Weco 3-pin connectors for balanced or BNC's for unbalanced connections. The HD video I/O boasts 1.5 Gb circuitry that eliminates the risk of ground loop interference.

Switching is accomplished during the vertical interval using the vertical sync derived from the video reference. Similarly, digital audio switching occurs during the audio sample preamble. The AVS-816/HDD can control up to 32 switchers via computer software and can be controlled by a serial data feed of either RS-232 or RS-422/485 interface standards, selectable by a simple internal DIP switch.

For added convenience, a remote control panel is available that uses the common RJ-11 modular connector along with the RS-485 interface standard. For automated system applications, an optional GPI interface is available. The serial communication protocol is compatible with existing Link video and audio switchers and remote control panels, and the AVS-816/HDD can be preset to respond to that instruction set for seamless integration into existing systems.
