This innovative device is specifically designed for high-demand applications such as broadcasting, motion picture production, theater, and live stage performances where superior audio quality and extended operating range are paramount. This user-friendly transmitter can function as a standalone device or be seamlessly integrated into popular intercom systems. It employs Lectrosonics' patented Digital Hybrid Wireless technology (U.S. Patent 7,225,135) to digitally encode the audio in the transmitter and decode it in the receiver, all while transmitting the encoded information via an analog FM wireless link. This unique digital technique, which is not a mere digital version of an analog compandor, can only be achieved in the digital domain, ensuring pristine audio quality even though the inputs and outputs are analog.The Lectrosonics IFBT4 transmitter leverages the benefits of conventional FM wireless systems, such as excellent range, efficient use of RF spectrum, and resistance to interference. However, it surpasses conventional systems by eliminating the analog compandor and its associated artifacts. With 256 UHF frequencies in 100kHz steps, this transmitter offers exceptional flexibility in coordinating frequencies in multi-channel wireless systems and avoiding interference from external RF signal sources and noise.The device's microprocessor control ensures smooth operation and eliminates transients at turn-on and turn-off. It also features a TUNE mode that mutes the transmitter output to prevent interference in other wireless systems while changing frequencies. In the XMIT mode, the output is activated, and the frequency cannot be altered. The IFBT4 transmitter delivers a robust 250 mW of output power, providing an exceptional operating range when used with an efficient antenna. This makes it ideal for indoor use, where the signal can penetrate various surfaces and reflect off others to extend the operating range and reduce the need for critical antenna positioning. The transmitter's LCD display is backlit for use in dimly lit conditions and is also highly visible in direct sunlight. DIP switch settings on the rear panel ensure compatibility with RTS and Clear Com intercom systems. The device also includes a preamp stage in the input stage for direct connection to dynamic microphones in standalone applications. Constructed from rugged, machined aluminum with an electrostatic powder coating and an anodized finish, the Lectrosonics IFBT4 transmitter is built to last. It operates on 6 to 18 Volts DC via a locking connector and comes with a detachable, locking 1/4 wavelength flexible, galvanized steel cable whip antenna that connects to a 50 Ohm BNC connector on the rear panel.
