Questions & Answers

r v : hi is this more soft or a hard edge graduated filter?MURALI R : This is more of a blender. There is no hard edge but unlike other grads, this goes from dark to light all along with no real boundary. I use it with other grad filters, to reduce a few stops overall or the grad filter needs some extra gradient.SKIP O : The one I purchased is a hard edge filter. I like it very much, but I will be buying a soft edge also for future use. The hard edge is more suited to photographing scenes where the horizon is very defined, such as a lake or ocean or equally flat terrain. Where you have an uneven horizon, such as mountains, forests, cityscapes, etc, it is less suited. These would require a soft edge ND filter.TIM J : Lee's blender filters are half color and half clear and change gradually over the entire length of the filter. So you can definitely consider it more of a soft graduated filter.
Shopper : What is a blender filter? I am familiar with the graduated, soft and hard edge filters. Thank you, Ernie MisnerTHOMAS S : how much is the nd grad? 0.6, 0.9 or ????SHEA I : Ernie, A blender is the same as a graduated filter, but with the transition taking place gradually over the whole length of the filter rather than in the middle. TomTHOMAS M : the ND tapers evenly from one end to the other. Its not great and I cant see a great use for it but I have occasionally used it as if it were an adjustable ND filter by moving it up or down to get different gradations of ND strength.Thomas F : I think it means that it is a smoother transition as you dial in the increased density. It is a great filter. JIM B : Basically the same thing as a soft edge filter. Part clear and part either color or gray.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?MURALI R : Best used with other colored grad filters to vary tones or intensity

Lee filters - highest quality accessory for creativity and light management.

Lee filters are brilliant. A set of grads is essential for any serious field photographer. They have a gorgeous look. Nicely packaged, too. Lots of good YouTube guides for the uninitiated. Optical filters certainly look better than the software generated effects. Unless you prefer that electro-hype look.

Lee Filters Foundation Kit

These filters are easy to use and work beautifully! Still getting used to using them as they are my first set. Love the fact that I don’t have to use Lightroom to fix my skies!

Seascapes favorite

This filter is great for shooting seascapes or flat horizons in hard light conditions. Great filter. No visible or noticeable color cast. I changed my Formatt Hitech for this.

The only filter you need

If you want to be on budget with your landscape filter kit then buy just two of them: a hard grad 0.6 and a soft grad 0.6. They will be the only filter you will really need and use (apart from a polarizer). I highly recommend Lee filters. They produce no visible ir noticeable color cast. I just love mine.

More useful than I thought

The first time I tried using this specific filter was in Myanmar on a photography workshop tour. The improvement in sunset shots was impressive. Purchased a set when I got home. Have been playing with sunsets on windy days when there is a lot of cloud cover. The slower shutter speeds make it possible to let the clouds create interesting patterns behind the silhouetted subjects. Highly recommend.

Solid filter, very large

This is a great filter if you have large lenses or very wide lenses. But be aware it probably is too large for normal smaller lenses, and the shading is very subtle. It is a first-class, well made piece of kit. But not an obvious thing for everyday photos with standard lenses. Might be better to get a smaller filter with more obvious shading.

Works better than anything else

I used this product to take pictures in Times Square. The idea being to reduce the bright lights of the neon so that the people on the street can be seen. An example is attached. That picture used both a soft and hard filter mounted in the holder. However, one looks like an idiot with this bulky object attached to one's camera. In Times Square, idiots pass unnoticed. I doubt that that is true elsewhere.

Great results!

Brilliant filter that offers true ND. Time will tell if it stands up to regular usage. The Hard Edge filter is a bit more specific than the soft edge filter because of its effect on the subject matter. Its great for sea scapes or flat landscapes but use the soft for undulating landscapes or exposer balance. This Hard edge filter is perfect for your telephoto lenses because it applies more like a Soft edge filter (if this is what you after). I've found the Hard edge is a little restricting to use when rotated because the Hard edge can be noticed (depending on subject) as apposed to the soft edge which feathers the exposure. If you know how to use it, It can offer exceptional results! Also comes with a nice pouch... but like most of these accessories, you don't use them if you have the right camera bag.

High Quality

Not much to say except it came and works as expected. Optically excellent, like other Lee filters. I see no color shifting or other problems when stacked with a Hitech .9 Hard GND.

Solid filter but prefer the 0.9

Pros: Solid filter, neutral colour, fits securely into the Lee Foundation Kit Cons: Creates lens flare, not as useful as the 0.9 ND grad

Lee Neutral Density .9 Graduated Hard Fi

It does the job well. Some good thinking when using it really helps. It must be position in front of your lens and you must be looking through your viewfinder or LCD to see what it is doing. Once in position fire the shutter.

What sets the Neutral Density 0.9 Graduated Blender Filter apart is its high-quality, professional-grade construction and versatile functionality. Crafted by the reputable brand, Lee Filters, this durable filter is designed to provide photographers with greater control over their image exposure.

This 100x150mm resin filter is a graduated neutral density filter, meaning it transitions smoothly from clear to a density of 0.9 (equivalent to 3 stops). This unique feature allows for a balanced light distribution across your scene, harmonizing light and dark areas for an even exposure. Whether you're capturing a sunrise or a cityscape, this filter can help you achieve a more natural transition between the darkened and unaltered areas of your image.

The Neutral Density 0.9 Graduated Blender Filter is not just effective, but also versatile. It's suitable for use with both wide-angle and normal to longer lenses, thanks to its soft, hard, and blended transition options from dark to clear. This flexibility makes it an essential tool for photographers looking to enhance their creativity and control in various shooting conditions.

In essence, this filter is designed to reduce the amount of light entering your camera lens. This allows for the use of a wider aperture and slower shutter speed, resulting in a shallower depth of field and a more blurred background. Elevate your photography with the Neutral Density 0.9 Graduated Blender Filter, a tool that combines quality, versatility, and effectiveness in one package.
