The R400A is fully compatible with all Lectrosonics 400 Series Digital Hybrid Wireless transmitters, 200 Series and 100 Series analog transmitters, IFB transmitters, and select analog transmitters from other manufacturers.
The R400A operates within the frequency block 944, which ranges from 944.100 to 951.900MHz. It offers 256 user-selectable frequencies within this range.
The R400A offers two independent audio outputs: a balanced XLR output and an unbalanced 1/4 inch output. Each output is controlled by its own digital attenuator.
The SmartTune technology in the R400A automatically scans all available frequencies within the receiver's frequency block and selects the frequency with the lowest RF interference. This significantly reduces setup time, especially in RF-dense environments.
The R400A is equipped with a Smart Noise Reduction (SmartNR) algorithm. This technology selectively attenuates electronic hiss without sacrificing high-frequency signals like speech sibilance and tones, thereby enhancing the effective dynamic range of the system.

The R400A Digital Hybrid Wireless UHF Diversity Receiver stands as a pinnacle of audio reception technology, expertly engineered to work seamlessly with Lectrosonics' 400 Series Digital Hybrid Wireless transmitters, as well as the 200 Series and 100 Series analog transmitters, IFB transmitters, and select analog transmitters from other brands. This receiver is a versatile tool for audio professionals, offering a broad frequency range within Block 944 (944.100-951.900MHz), encompassing 256 user-selectable frequencies for optimal flexibility.
Equipped with advanced audio processing capabilities, the R400A incorporates a digital signal processor (DSP) to ensure minimal distortion and an exceptional signal-to-noise ratio. The dual audio outputs, comprising a balanced XLR and an unbalanced 1/4 inch jack, operate independently and are each adjustable via their own digital attenuators, providing users with unparalleled control over audio quality.
The receiver's intuitive interface is highlighted by a menu-driven graphic LCD display, which simplifies the process of adjusting settings and monitoring performance. The integration of Digital Hybrid Wireless Technology is a testament to Lectrosonics' commitment to audio excellence, combining 24-bit digital audio with an analog FM radio link to deliver pristine sound quality and robust, noise-free RF performance.
SmartTune technology is a game-changer for users operating in RF-dense environments, as it automatically scans and selects the clearest frequency, drastically reducing setup times. Meanwhile, SmartDiversity employs microprocessor-controlled antenna phase combining to combat multipath dropouts, ensuring a compact design without compromising on reception quality.
The R400A's SmartSquelch feature intelligently adjusts squelching behavior to maintain audio integrity, even in challenging conditions. This dynamic approach prevents the loss of audio and reduces the intrusion of unwanted noise, ensuring clear communication.
For those utilizing a diverse range of transmitters, the R400A's compatibility modes enable operation with various Lectrosonics transmitters and certain models from other manufacturers, offering a high degree of versatility. The SmartNR (Noise Reduction) algorithm further enhances the dynamic range by selectively attenuating electronic hiss, preserving the clarity of high-frequency signals such as speech sibilance and tones.
The receiver's DSP-based Pilot Tone system uses ultrasonic tones to control audio muting, effectively eliminating thumps, pops, and transients when transmitters are switched on or off. This feature also simplifies the coordination of multi-channel wireless systems and enhances the receiver's durability by eliminating the need for fragile crystals.
In summary, the R400A Digital Hybrid Wireless UHF Diversity Receiver is a sophisticated, high-performance solution designed to meet the exacting demands of audio professionals. Its robust feature set, including SmartTune, SmartDiversity, SmartSquelch, and SmartNR, combined with its compatibility with a wide range of transmitters, makes it an indispensable asset for achieving impeccable audio quality in any setting.
