The filter is used to reduce the amount of light entering your lens by ten stops. This allows for longer exposure times, blurring motion in your images and creating a unique artistic effect. It's great for capturing movement in clouds, waterfalls, rivers, cityscapes, and traffic.
The 3.0 density gives you more control over exposure and depth of field in your photography. It allows for a wider aperture and slower shutter speed, which is especially useful in low light conditions.
The filter is designed to be used with the SW150-Series Filter Holder. It has a universal size of 150x150mm, making it compatible with many camera lenses, but it's always best to check the specifications of your camera lens to ensure a proper fit.
No, the filter is neutral density, meaning it reduces light without altering the color balance of your images.
The filter is manufactured by Lee Filters, a reputable brand known for producing high-quality photography equipment.

The first time I got this filter, the gasket that allows for a snug fit between the glass and the filter mount pulled off. So disappointed since the wait was so long due to it being on back order. I got a replacement easily though. I fixed this problem but buying the smallest metal washer I could find at Home Depot and remounted the filter slots so the glass is not so tight up against the filter mount. This solved the problem. No light leak but the gasket does not get pulled off either.

This worked just as I expected. Allowed for a 20 sec exposure time in daylight, rendering a wavy lake as a smooth as glass surface. Great atmospheric effects, no noticeable color cast and a good light seal with the SW150 filter holder.

The worst ND filter ever used. It changed my color balance to the max.

So, here is the background on my switch. I am a fairly frequent user of my Nikon 14-24 f2.8 wide angle zoom lens in landscape photography. I like to slow down my exposures to create a sense of motion in seascapes, waterfalls, etc. I decided to try out Lee's solution for this lens, and I found it to be far superior to the filters I had been using; so much so, in fact, that I completely replaced my entire set of ND filters and lens adapters. The build quality and online tutorials are second to none. Lee filters are highly recommended.

The LEE Big Stopper works excellent. One minute exposures in full sun, opens a whole new world for long exposure photography. Product arrived early and was packed well.
