The primary function of the UMC16B Multicoupler is to efficiently distribute signals from two antennas to eight diversity receivers. This reduces the need for excessive cabling and antennas in multi-channel wireless systems.
The UMC16B Multicoupler uses a high current amplifier with a very high IP3 (third order intercept), which minimizes intermodulation products for a cleaner, clearer sound.
The UMC16B Multicoupler can be powered from an external supply ranging from 12 to 18 VDC for mobile applications, or from 90 to 240 VAC for stationary installations using the regulated power supply provided with the unit.
The ceramic filter in the UMC16B Multicoupler blocks energy above and below the passband. This ensures that only the required frequency range is amplified and distributed, resulting in a cleaner, clearer sound.
The UMC16B Multicoupler can accommodate up to eight diversity receivers or up to 16 non-diversity receivers across a 230MHz passband.

While the UMC16B 8-Channel Wideband UHF Antenna Multicoupler is a robust and versatile device, its primary function is to efficiently distribute signals from two antennas to eight diversity receivers. This advanced feature significantly reduces the need for excessive cabling and antennas in multi-channel wireless systems, making it an ideal choice for both professional and amateur audio setups.
Engineered with high-quality ceramic filtering, this durable multicoupler offers a broad band, ensuring low noise and high intercept point RF distribution. This combination of features results in exceptional performance and flexibility, accommodating up to eight diversity receivers or up to 16 non-diversity receivers across a 230MHz passband.
The UMC16B Multicoupler is designed with user convenience in mind. It can be powered from an external supply ranging from 12 to 18 VDC, making it suitable for mobile applications. Alternatively, it can also be powered from 90 to 240 VAC for stationary installations, using the regulated power supply provided with the unit. A locking connector on the rear panel ensures a secure power connection, adding to the reliability of the device.
The RF signals at the inputs first pass through a ceramic filter, effectively blocking energy above and below the passband. The signal is then amplified using a high current amplifier, which applies the necessary gain ahead of the splitter. This amplifier is a high current type with a very high IP3 (third order intercept), minimizing intermodulation products for a cleaner, clearer sound.
The amplified signal is then distributed to the output jacks using a Wilkinson "strip line" RF splitter. While it is recommended to terminate unused outputs with 50 Ohm dummy loads for maximum performance, the splitter design allows unused jacks to remain un-terminated with only a slight effect on other channels (+/- 1 to 2 dB in the level at the outputs).
Housed in a standard 19-inch rack mount assembly, the UMC16B Multicoupler is equipped with rugged connectors, reinforcing its durability and longevity. This device is a testament to Lectrosonics' commitment to producing high-quality, reliable audio equipment.
