I'm trying to make this as realistic as a review as possible. For the good, Leupold is the best company I've ever used. From hunting optics to this dot, Leupold will always be my number 1. DDP NV. Do not buy the NV version. I did. It works fine. The issue is, unless you are Delta, CAG, Seal Team, etc. , you won't be using the NV red dot in the specific environment to take advantage of it. Any white light or introduced ambient light will wash out the NV dot. So its very applicable for some people, but for the general population, its not necessary. But you do you. Changing brightness. This is one of the bigger issues I've had, and other I have talked to have had. The brightness cycles all the way up, or all the way down. You can reverse direction by holding the button for 2 seconds, but if you don't hold it long enough, it doesn't work, and if you hold it too long, you turn off your dot. Maybe have a split button with one up and one down, or have two buttons like everyone else. Dot size. I really like the 2. 5 MOA. I've used 1 MOAs, 3 MOAs and 6 MOAs. I can't tell the difference between my 3 MOA and the DDP 2. 5 MOA looking at them, but my on range performance is better with the DDP 2. 5 MOA. Even on the same gun. Maybe its just a better optic overall. Maybe the 2. 5 is the difference. I'm honestly going to go with the 2. 5 because the other optic is great as well. Dot color and reticles. Red is fine. Everyone made the red dots for a reason. Green is starting to come up. People say its easier to see the dot and pick it up. May the option for those people, but then your making two of the same product for a random amount of people. Different reticles is the same. I prefer the dot only. I don't need the circle, hold over marks, etc. You're using a red dot at a distance where you can make a quick rough adjustment. I recommend this optic overall. Now, here is what I would like to see Leupold do in the future, if a Gen 2 or upgraded red dot ever comes about. Dedicated buttons for increased and decreased brightness. The size of the DDP is bigger than almost everyone else. You can fit 2 buttons on there somehow. Smaller base height. The height/crown of the red dot is fine. But the base is large height wise. Significantly larger than any base I've seen or used. Can it be cut down? Lowered? If I'm buying a red dot, I don't want to also have to buy iron sights to account for the height. Most other companies are meshing with my handgun so well, that I can use the factory sights. I only want to have to buy the red dot, not iron sights too. DO NOT CHANGE THE DOT SIZE. I really like the 2. 5 MOA.

I also, like Kyle , followed the manual torque specs and the holes got stripped. I have a torque driver and adhered to the spec perfectly.

This red dot worked great right out of the box and mounted up on my FN 510 easily. Love the large site picture and ability to acquire targets easily. Plus appreciate the robust construction, which is perfect for backcountry use.

Terrible optic. The sight flickers on and off between shots. Even with a new battery the dot is quite dim compared to RNRs

I have used every brand of optic in this size on the market and the leupold is a great offering in the open emitter space. I am currently running this on a semi auto . 308 as an offset optic and it has held up to the abuse and recoil very well. I have had zero issues with this optic holding zero and performing the way I expect. I will definitely be purchasing more of them in the future.

This optic is clear with large field of view. The color isn't so much FDE but more like a coyote if your worried about tbat sort of thing. If your in need of a optic plate, it's a little difficult to find. Only change I'd offer is to make it with a green dot. Great optic

As always, Leupold did a fantastic job. Very well made. And these things can take a beating and still function. Only complaint I have is putting the battery in or out. I finally got it done. But people with larger hands, really struggle. I mounted mine on an Sig Sauer M18. And love it!

Love my DPP. It may be sacrilege but I popped it onto to my 45 lever action. Target acquisition is now awesomer . I did notice Leupold made a change to the battery compartment lid. Maybe there were retainer issues.

This is exactly what I needed at the exact height for co-witnessing. Easy to install and even came with the sight tool. Sights are imperative for back up and for quick acquisition of the red dot. Thank You!

I have two of the DPP's mounted on shotguns that I use for turkey hunting. They were easy to install, zero and use. I've killed several turkeys using the DPP's mounted on shotguns which made getting on the birds easier for my older eyes.
