It is becoming more important to preserve transparencies in this age of digitalization. The Logan slide file is really the only steel item available from my experience. It is very sturdy and will pass the test of time. The flimsy, soft plastic inserts are not the best, but serve their purpose. One can abandon these for other dividers of one?s own choosing. Overall, the best choice!

Quick and Reasonable

I was delighted to find a storage box that was actually made for slides.  if you want to store slides, this is a great find.  It reduced a large box filled with trays and boxes of slides to a compact space the size of a small toolbox.

Sturdy metal archival slide storage box

I have bought these Logan trays for about 30 years and the latest versions are bad news. The latch springs fall out, which I hold in place with shoe goo.The latch apparently is not pressed tightly enough against the case during assembly. A sturdy paper clip assures safety, after I dumped 1600 slides on the floor when lifting by the handle. The old yellow inserts worked very well, sturdy, and of even dimensions.  The present black, thin, candy-box inserts I cut up to fit the case better, and assures an even stack. Still the best choice after rebuilding.

Poor Quality Control Lately - Still the Best for Mass Storage

Sturdy, easy to organize, style hasn't changed in many years.  Getting hard to find, though, I don't know if they are still in production or not.

Excellent slide storage

These things have been around for a long time, but they're still a good quality way to store a lot of 35mm slides.  The only problem with them is they are getting hard to find!

Over the years I had accumulated thousands of slides, filling dozens of slide trays, hundreds more filling boxes. Now it's become time to get serious about digitizing and organizing my collection, and the Logan slide file box has proved to be the most cost efficient way to do what's best.

Sturdy, compact, efficient storage system is easy to use, including the paper inserts to indicate what is in it.  It has gone from 1970s ugly yellow to almost as ugly a blue, but construction has remained exactly the same.  I like the plastic inserts in this model and one of their single height models better than third model with paper/cardboard dividers.

We use this product for storing our athletics slides for our college. We need them for future events and this allows us to categorize them by year and sport. We can locate them easily now.

I still have many slides that I have not yet digitized, and this is great for sorting and storing them.

Great way to store 2x2 slides

By digitizing my slides and storing them on cd's, I thought I could destroy and throw away my slides....but I thought...what if??? So I'm consolidating the space I used to keep slides, slide trays and the projector but not destroying the slides, just the trays and projector. By keeping the slides and storing them in these slide storage boxes....I have peace of mind....just in case.

Con....One of the two trays had a bent hinge.  I was able to straighten it but it will be weaker than the other.
This appears to be a flaw in construction as other people have experienced a similar problem.

Pro....Easy to load and label with 35mm slides.

So far I've filled 15 of the Logan storage boxes. That's about 22,500 slides, part of a lifetime's collection, safely organized and stored. Because of the handle on top, the boxes  don't stack well, so I recommend keeping them in the sturdy cardboard boxes in which they're packaged; this also provides a way to label them. I also have a Logan slide sorter. After many decades of use, its plastic slide rack became yellow. I called Logan, and they replaced the plastic at a reasonable cost. Good company, good products.
