Review Summary

Probably overkill for me too as a monitor since I am not a gamer but use this for work and some music production. I bought this because the price seemed reasonable for the size and specs. Just know this is not the model with USB-C port. It was easy to assemble and overall pretty light panel for its size, but hopefully that doesn't mean the build quality is subpar. But also size-wise, I wish the screen were taller than the aspect ratio since I am using the included stand (shorter than my natural eye level) vs buying a new adjustable monitor stand. So since this monitor is brand new to me as of today I need to dial in the display resolution and colors. When I first turned on the monitor the image is pretty washed out and text isn't crisp. So I'll have to figure things out or do more monitor type research. There isn't a lot of youtube reviews on this model in case you are looking.

For gaming it is a decent monitor with a 200mhz refresh rate. I went from a 256x1440p monitor to this LG 5120x1440p 32:9. This means you have double the viewing width compared to 16:9 on games that support it. It is demanding for the gpu as it is a little less demanding than 4k but nearly as many pixels about 10% less pixels. Yes the monitor screen isn't very tall but that is how 32:9 works compared to 21:9. You have a sharper image due to a more narrow image at 1440p. Pixel density is the key. The lighting I wish was better instead of the original. If this monitor utilized micro-led or quantom dot tech the image would be much better as you can see light bleed in grey areas or scenes. Overall this monitor is worth at least $600 USD. Once you have a 32:9 monitor you will NOT go back to 16:9. There are workarounds for this for games like Flawless widescreen app and other methods. One of the tricks in HDR is when it's VESA certified the manufacturer will get a monitor that is brighter for testing than the original mainstream line production. Many do this.

Got this as a Christmas present. Works great! Just a note here, if you are using it for gaming, it is phenomenal for PC gaming as you can use the entire screen at the native 21:9 resolution. If you are using it for console gaming, consoles do not support native 21:9 Ultrawide resolution, so if you want to use the whole screen, your game will look stretched out. If you don't like looking at characters in third person view stretched out, you will have to go with the 16:9 resolution that consoles are currently optimized for. Hope they (the console developers) change that in the future.

Upgrade my really old 22 inch LED monitors and the difference is wild. Colors are way more vibrant and with it only being 1 monitor there are less cords which made cable management a lot easier. It took a little getting used to since it was so much bigger but after a few days I don't think I could go back.

Purchased it for my 2020 MacBook Pro. This monitor exceeded my expectations. Being able to raise and lower as well as tilt the display makes it work with my standing desk. The number of resolutions to select is also impressive. Haven't tried the PIP yet but am looking forward to connecting my Roku stick as the secondary input.

Works well with Windows 11. Would like Ubuntu instructions or driver.

I bought This 2 weeks ago. It so far has been an incredible upgrade to my set up. Gaming looks super impressive on the 5120x1440 and work is also great for the amount of screens I am use to having open. Highly reccomend.

Bought this a few weeks ago for my music studio and it's gorgeous. The wide screen is perfect for music production since music recording software works on a timeline which goes from left to right. It's also allowed me to eliminate the need for two screens, which has been incredible. Haven't gamed on it yet, but I can't even imagine how cool that's gonna be. I'm so glad I bought this.

This monitor is probably overkill for me, since I primarily use it for productivity. But there were two reasons for me to buy this one... first, aesthetically, it was going to look nicer than the two different size monitors I was using before...and second, I liked that I could display two different laptops (win and macbook) at the same time, in a split screen (really picture by picture) format. The picture quality is great, and have no complaints with it. My only complaint, hence the missing 5th star, is a result of my experience with LG's support. I contacted their support because I needed assistance in setting up the split screen view (one for each laptop), I mentioned before. It appeared like I needed some onscreen software for it, but when I went to the support page and entered my model #, there were no results for said software. The only thing that appeared was a driver. In any case, I chatted with support, and explained what I was trying to do. They provided me direct links to the software they said I needed. I installed it on both of my laptops... and saw the split screen options via the software... yet I couldn't figure out how to assign an input to each screen. Again I chatted with support... and they ultimately concluded that what I was trying to do, could not be done with this monitor. I was fairly certain that wasn't true, so I called and spoke to someone, explaining the same thing. I even said, that was one of the reasons I got this monitor... I know I read about that functionality in my research. They asked if I could provide a link, but I said it was sometime ago, and I don't recall all the places I looked. In any case, they "looked into it" and again concluded it couldn't be done. As I continued to think about where I read info that it could be done... it dawned on my to look at the product page on Amazon, which is where I purchased it. And there, it specifically states "...supports both Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and Picture-by-Picture (PbP) allowing you to configure your monitor to show content from two separate input sources." Then I went to the LG site for my model, and it showed the same there as well. Now... how does LG support not know this info? Well, probably because they're just reading off some script and only providing canned responses based off of certain criteria. Anyway, I asked that it be escalated, but nobody ever got back to me about it. What did it for me, was re-reading the stated functionality, and me realizing that the split-screen function provided by the software, is different form PbP, which is available directly on the monitor. So ultimately, I figured it out myself, and concluded that I didn't even need to install anything for what I was trying to do. Had LG support had a real understanding of what I was trying to do, and actually were familiar with their products and its capabilities, versus relying on keywords from my inquiry and seeing what "solutions" popped up on their screen, they could have steered me in the right direction in two minutes.
