Worked fine on Windows 7, but then does nothing after upgrade to Windows 10. Useless, and no guides / drivers / patches anywhere to get around it.

Owned this for years. Have used this to burn and rip when I use computers that do not have media drives. I always suggest the LG drives to my friends.

My laptop would not recognize this device. After a run around with tech support, I was given two downloads which where supposed to help, but they didn't help at all.

Works great with my Windows notebook. Plug it in and no drivers needed. My MacBook Pro? Nope. Only works off and on due to updates to Apple OS. LG isn't keeping up apparently.

I use this product with my Acer and it worked fine until I upgraded to Windows 10. Now it does not work. It is my understanding that the device is not compatible with Windows 10 so I will have to purchase a new one. Ugh!

bought because lg usually has good products. It advertises this as compatible with Macs. Nope. dvd that accompany the drive only have software for Windows. There is no info on this site and others who have asked about the same issue have not even received a reply from the company. maybe it works on windows but not on mac air nor mac books.

I have owned this drive for a few months, I have a Mac Mini with out an optical drive and wanted something that I could install and remove when needed. The drive has worked great with both Yosemite and El Capitan.I am in IT and I work over nights from home when it is slow, I watch movies in the down time. The drive has worked seamlessly with every thing, and has turned out better than I expected for the price I paid for it. It looks sharp not a big bulky item. as far as the durability of it its great it sits on my desk and occasionally will go to the office with me in a lap top bag. I would not give something like this to a child and expect it to last more than a few weeks if your child is accident prone. Just exercise sound judgment and know who you are buying for

I bought two of these items so we could use them to do school overseas. We bought the kids lightweight laptops and then two of these LG Slim Portable DVD players. We are less than a month overseas and one completely stopped working, the other is having difficulty staying shut while playing videos they need for school. Annoying! I regret not reviewing the product before purchasing. I assumed the product would work well for us.

Purchased for my daughter about six months ago and it stopped playing DVD's and games. Now it only plays CD's. Read a number of posts stating this is a common issue with this product. No solution found on line and all recommendations pointed to buying another unit.

I bought this product because my laptop has no actual optical drive. This first time I plugged it in, it worked like a charm. The second use, the drive shows up on my computer, but when you put a disc in the drive it becomes unrecognizable and the drive disappears. Great for spare parts at this point.

Contrary to the claim on the packaging that this product is Mac compatible, it is NOT. I tried 12- ways-to-Sunday to make it work with my MacBook Pro, and no results. There is no recognition by the Mac that any type of device is attached. I have a backup storage unit, external speakers, and other devices that work with the Mac just fine. So, it's not the Mac. So, now I'm out my purchase price and still do not have a CD/DVD reader/writer. It may work with windows, but does not work with MAC. Yes, I wish I had read the reviews prior to purchase. Oh well.

I recently bought a new PC laptop, which did not come with a disk port. When I bought the laptop I was concerned because I wanted to watch movies and download games. The Slim Portable DVD Writer was recommended to me for all the things I wanted to do and was said to work really well. It was all a lie. The first day I brought my new computer home, I downloaded the DVD writer right away. Not only did it take over 5 hours for it to download, the DVD Writer refused to play movies or download anything I needed, including my anti virus software. I had to take my brand new computer into Geeks work and they had to keep it over the week to figure out how making the DVD drive do its job. After it was "fixed" I found that it still had issues. For instance randomly it would disconnect from my computer or decided that it didn't want to play the movie I chose. For awhile it would only work if it was upside down. Sadly, I waited too long to get a refund on the unit and am reaping the consequences. Overall, this Disk Port is useless and should not even be considered

Usually, I can make anything work. I once reconfigured a toaster to run off a USB port! But the LG SP60 wouldn't work on my Macbook Pro, and when it finally becamne operational with Windows 7, it would not work with the antivirus SW Ihad installed. I have had it two weeks and so far, it has been useless.

I bought a new laptop that doesn't have a DVD player/burner so the sales person recommended this unit as a cost effective solution. I tried multiple times to load the LG drivers using the installation CD provided with the burner. Every attempt ends with an error stating that the software can not be loaded. After doing some Internet searches it seems that many people with Windows 8 also have the same issue. Without the drivers I can still pull photos from a CD but I can't play a DVD, so it's useless for my needs. Unfortunately I'll be returning this unit tomorrow for a refund.
