Linksys WRT160N router

The Linksys WRT160N has worked for me with no problems after installed. I've had past (Linksys) routers but it seems this install cd just didn't work. I wound up calling support and they were more than happy to work with me. In less than 30 minutes I had it installed. I can access the internet through my laptop and watch (Netflix) movies through my Wii. Next I plan to hookup my laptop to my big screen tv so I can instantly watch Netflix movies.

MAGIC

Great router. Once you have managed to set up the router which is realitively easy, this is one fast machine. Never had any problems with it. Seems very reliable. I have 3 computers all running off this router at the same time wirelessly without a problem and good strength over long distance also.Never seems to glich, unlike other routers

not a happy customer

I got this wireless router when I purchased my new $1800. computer by HP in Jan. 2010. The salesperson at Best Buy assured me it was the best on the market. I didn't want a cheap router since I was buying a fairly decent computer I wanted to make sure everything would work properly. When I got it home, I had to call a tech friend to come out because I couldn't get it to work. He ended up calling linksys who took over an hour to finally get it working and then wanted to charge us!! The thing lasted maybe 2 wks. and stopped working again, we called a 2nd time and again they wanted to charge us, my tech friend ask for the supervisor and told him it was their fault for having a defective product and we had better not get charged for the problem. We did not get a bill and they were able to get us up and going again. This is the 3rd time the router has gone out and I am so frustrated I could scream!!! I would not buy this router again, i would go back to a desktop non wireless set up first!

Linksys wrt160 router

After finally getting it hooked up and working, I too keep getting logged out. Constantly have to reset the router. I'm beginning to think I got a defective one. Low signal.

WRT160N-do not buy

I am fairly adept technologically. This wireless router connected with my new HP desktop immediately. That lasted about 24 hours. Since then it has worked intermittently, just long enough to make you think the problem has been fixed, and then the connection is lost again. I have spent hours trying every fix suggested by Linksys, with only a couple of hours of connectivity to show for it. I bought this product though HP thinking it would be an easy and convenient wireless solution. At this point, this will be my last Linksys router, and my last HP computer system--I like the HP PC, I think, but the Linksys wireless hassle--when I bought an HP "system" to prevent this kind of thing--makes switching from Dell to HP a move I regret.

wrt160N card

I received the linksys router, and my HP computer, with Windows 7 and the wireless Ncard installed by HP. I could not hook to internet wired, so I called HP, and they assisted withsome info, then told me to contact linksys for help with the router- mistake, after 3 calls and 2 hrs, I could not hook wirelessly. Then I called my ISP provider and their guru had to come to the house placing a service call, informed me that my installed Ncard would not communicate (because drivers for windows 7 not present. So , I ended up with an adapter. In my opinion, the N card was a waste of money.

Linksys Support not up to par.

Once the WRT160 was installed, the HP Gt 60 notebook computer worked online but caused a conflict with our Compaq desktop. After using online support and $9.99 charged to my Visa card, the session was not successful in solving the glitch. Furthermore, it took 45 days to get a refund for the unsuccessful remote diagnostic attempt, to get refunded to my Visa. I went through the four hour session with Linksys support, got a shipping number and sent the WRT160 to California and two weeks later I received the WRT160 and have not used it because the Belkin is doing so well. The Linksys router also would not allow my nintendo DSi or Wii to access the WEB. I now am using a cheaper Belkin F6D4230-4 v3 or the (150). Cost:$45. The notebook and Desktop PC work great with the Belkin.

Is a newer style better?

I was so happy when I got this product! Didn't know you had to be a pro to use it!? So I got it, it worked great with my laptop! Then I started adding other devices on it (t.v., bluray, printer). The router then lost connection to the internet 50% of the time! So I called Linksys for help. They wanted to charge me to fix their product!!!! I think the older versions were better. At least with them you didn't have to reset them all the time!
