Difficult to install when you do not own a desktop computer, there aren’t any instructions and when speaking to one of your reps, I spent an hour plus on the phone and was advised to just purchase a desktop

Anyone can install DDWRT onto this router giving it features seen only in routers worth a great deal more. However with out the Version number "WRT 54G (V8" we are unable to determine if this is a compatible unit. The version number should be listed at least in the tech specs. DDWRT compatibility is one of the major reasons this unit is still produced, also DDWRT is dependent on the version of this product.

I bought this from Dell with great expectations. To my surprise, the easy set-up feature did not work and the lit display didn't go off. Pressing it reset the router and I had to go through the same set-up 1/2 dozen times. A call to Linksys customer support did not yield any solutions.

The High-Speed 2.4GHz 802.11b/g Wireless-G Broadband Router with Linux from Linksys combines the functions of a Cable/DSL router and a wireless access point into one compact device. The router allows you to share your internet connection between several computers that can connect via a standard 802.11b/g wireless connection or via any of 4 wired RJ-45 Ethernet ports.
The router also features a firewall to protect you from malicious software that can attack your computer from the internet, as well as wireless security to insure that your data remains private.
The router can achieve speeds of 54 Mbps via a standard 802.11g wireless connection and it is also fully backward compatible with devices that use the older 11 Mbps 802.11b standard. These features make the wireless router a great way to add wireless access to your home network.
