Review Summary
Working with Studio Fluorescent has Never Been Easier. Whether you are producing a 24 hour newscast, a high resolution digital photo shoot, or a corporate video conference, the bright soft output & efficient operation of Lowel Fluo-Tec studio fluorescents make beautiful images easier to create. Is your shooting area a large full blown production facility with DMX controlled console, or a compact table-top web-casting set with 4 outlets in the wall? For either of these, and anything in between, Lowel Fluo-Tec helps you tailor your lighting system to perfectly suit the illumination requirements of your shooting area.
Choose from 5 dimmable and 5 non-dimmable models, housing from 2 to 8 lamps, and your choice of lamp color temperature & CRI (Color Rendering Index). All models have a high frequency internal ballast for flicker-free operation. They also have a wide range of available accessories, from mirror-finish intensifiers which can effectively double the output of the light, to honeycomb grids, egg crates & barndoors for trimming the spill, to rigid slide-in diffusers which further soften the output. Non-dimmable models are great for soft illumination where only basic control of the output is needed. Most also have multiple lamp switches on the unit to vary the output on a limited basis by switching pairs of lamps on or off.
The dimmable models are the choice when variable output level is the requirement. They can be dimmed manually at the unit, or remotely using either a DMX console or the optional IR handheld remote control system. In manual dimming operation, they allow 4 user-storable dimming levels, which can be helpful if you need to recreate an exact lighting level at a later date, without the use of a console. You can even monitor the lifespan of your installed lamp-set on the unit's built-in LED display. The continuing evolution of compact fluorescent lamp technology has brought improvements in their color rendering abilities. Lamp choices are available in daylight or tungsten color temperatures, for use in either video & digital still imaging or for shooting with film emulsions. They also have an output level approximately 2.5 times that of incandescent (tungsten) lamps of comparable wattage. All recommended lamps have a manufacturers rated life of approximately 8,000 hours.
The entire Lowel Fluo-tec studio line is now ETL/CSA or CE approved, with state of the art electronics for long durable life and safe operation. They are backed by the legendary Lowel warranty and repair service policy.
