joseph B : can i use it for head shots?WILLIAM L : It is not the best instrument as a key light for head shots or portrait lighting. I suppose you could use it by bouncing it off a reflector board. This is a strong and focused light. The flood control really isn't much of a 'flood" effect. It just de-focuses the beam a bit. You would have to keep it far away from the subject to not overpower them.BLAKE S : You can use it for head shots as it will provide the light, but it does not offer you any control over the light intensity. We purchased this light for use with HD video at events. We use a 12v battery belt with it and it has an out put of 150 watts. It works great for shooting video of the couple dances in an underlit ballroom. We have the diffuser, daylight filter, barn doors we use with it. It also will handle 120 v. a.c. and a 300 watt bulb. It will fit on a soft box with the right ring adapter. It is a versatile light, but I would say it's primarily for video use.EDWIN K : Hi Joseph! You can most definitely use this for head shots, however, I would be aware of the bulb you're using too. Most likely, the Omni would act as a key light for the head shot, so I'd probably use a more powerful bulb, say a 300W or 500W (the latter is the highest you can use for this light). Also, I'd probably put some sort of diffusion in front of it to soften the beam up a bit. Overall though, this light would work pretty well for head shots. All Around Great Light!

Works Great! I love the fact that you can set it up to work on either 12V DC or 120V AC current. Just make sure you have the right bulb in before you plug it in.
