great buy

Replaced the side pinch lens cap on a Tokina 80mm-400mm lens. Now I don't have to remove the hood to get to the lens cap. Solid and always catches. actully better than a manufacturers center pinch I have on another lens.

Nice cap bad attachment string.

The cap does not come with the string attached and the string came apart while trying to thread it thorough an impossibly small hole in the edge of the cap. So I ended up tying it back together with an over hand knot. In the end I got it working but the string looks like an after thought. The cap its self is a very good cap and I can not complain about it.

Excellent, but do check for sharp edges

These lens caps are a welcome alternative, especially for Canon users (Canon does not supply the pinch type caps). Canon caps cannot be easily applied or removed with a lens hood in place while the Adorama pinch type caps can. However, I've found two issues with the Adorama caps. One is the large protruding squeeze handles. They extend outward beyond the circumference of the rest of the cap and so the cap is easily dislodged when these are bumped. For instance the cap hitting the side of a bag as you insert the camera and lens into the bag can dislodge the cap and in the case of a holster, leave the lens sitting face down on the loose cap. With most lenses this leaves the front lens element potentially resting on an edge of the loose lens cap and being abraded as the bag shakes a bit as you walk or hike the bag rides in a car. I've not had a front lens element damaged that I know of, but found the lens cap laying loose in the bottom of the bag multiple times until I learned to insert the camera and lens into the bag VERY carefully. I do not have enough experience with other pinch type lens caps to say this is a problem only with the Adorama brand caps so have not deducted a start for it. This problem is potentially exacerbated by sharp edges on the back of the lens cap. On one of my caps I found sharp edges at each end of the two threaded areas of the pinch pieces. The ends of the truncated threads and a little piece beyond the four ends of the threads were razor sharp even though they are plastic. These can easily contact the front lens element in the situation noted above as well as when you reach into a narrow lens hood to put the lens cap in place. The problem area is easily identified by sliding a finger over the ends of threads. Though only one of my caps had very sharp edges, I've scraped or sanded these areas on all of my lens caps until they are very smooth to the touch. Only one had very sharp edges, but I touched up all of them to be sure. Given the modest price and otherwise good functionality of these lens caps, I'm well satisfied with them. However, I do suggest you be aware of the above.

Beats Canon lens cap

I don't know when Canon will shift to center pinch lens caps (probably never) but their side pinch caps are a pain when a lens hood is attached. Canon is more concerned about keeping that Canon name prominent on their gear. This substitute works great and solves the lens hood problem.

BEATS CANON LENS CAPS

These caps are every bit as good as the Canon with the added benefit of being able to remove them without having to take off the lens hood. Also removes the Canon logo to make it harder for thieves to spot a target.

Nice Replacement

Not a bad price for a replacement cap...the Elastic came pre-stretched and wont fit my lens but I purchased this unit for the cap...not the keeper

Great Alternative to OEM Caps

"Pinch" function works smoother than a couple of Tamron pinch-style caps I own. Cap works well with hood installed unlike standard Canon caps. Great value for the money. I'll be buying more!

Difficult to assemble and not practical

Not practical if always changing lenses.

About Adorama CC72 72mm Center Pinch Lens Cap

This cap features a front pinch style lens attachment, that does not protrude beyond the cap's diameter, rather than the snap-on outside grip style. The center pinch type is therefore much easier to attach and detach when a lens hood is mounted.
