MARK M : How do you install this lens cap? There were not any directions on the package.STEPHEN W : I only had the camera for several days before returning it. I had some video issues with the camera otherwise a great camera. If I remember correctly to mount the auto lens cap you remove an outer ring on the front of the lens and mount the cap there. It may be a bayonet mount/twist mount.The auto cap works great except the 3 little projections on the cap add to the bulk and it did not fit into my pocket as easily.MARK M : Perfect answer. Lots of people have addressed this problem. I remember it being confusing, too. Good luck.CHRISTOPHER B : Mark M- I went online (to YouTube)… just type in "Panasonic LX7 auto lens cap"... there are several videos (very short, but informative) that show you exactly what to do. I guess I should have done a Google search or You Tube before I threw it in the garbage. There is a ring on the camera lens that must be removed I order to use the Lens Cap for LX7. Do a search! Look for "panasonic lx7 lens cap install" on youtube, there are a bunch of videos that will show you how to remove the ring and install the lens cap. It takes a little effort to remove that ring, but it should be doable.
