Works great

While I have Canon lens hoods for some of my lenses I went with the Adorama Hood because of the significance in the cost difference. Adorama was much less. I can't tell any difference between the quality of this hood and the Canon hoods. I will definitely order more Adorama lens hoods when I need them.

works for what it's designed for

Easy to install and works well. Only problem I have is putting on the lens cap with the hood installed. because of the size it is difficult to get your fingers in to install and remove the cover.

Why spend more on the OEM one?

Perfect fit for my 50mm 1.8 on my 5D Mark II. Looks great and performs as expected!!!

Very good for the Price

I bought this lens hood in place of the canon hood just becasue canon is way more costly. This hood does what it is supposed to do. It screws on to the front filter thread of the lens. There is no vignetting with this hood on (on an APS-C sensor). There is no internal thread built into the hood, so if you want to use a filter like a polarizer or UV or ND, then you have to first put the filter on the lens. Then screw the hood on the front thread of the filter. With one filter on the lens I did not see any vignetting on APS-C when this hood is used. Since there is no internal thread, it is difficult to put the lens cap on while the hood is still on the lens. You can put the cap but it is just held onto the inside of the hood by friction only. I am satisfied with the purchase.

Nice fit and finish

Fit well construction is nice overall and it's a bit thicker than the 50mm hood I purchased. No complaints!

It works!

Inexpensive, it works fine. No need to spend $20+ on the original canon hood

simple and self explanitory

A little finicky to attach but you get what you pay for. A great price but the only complaint i have is that you cant put it on the lens backwards when not in use, but you get what you pay for. no other complaints does exactly as advertised and does a swell job of it

Great for the price

Lens hood attached easily to my Canon EF 1.8 II lens. The hood screws in through the filter threads found at the end of your lens and you can still put the lens cap on securely & easily after installing the hood. Nothing fancy. Just a nice affordable, reliable product if you want to protect your lens from bumps and scratches. I'm quite satisfied with this lens hood.

Good for protection but...

I use this for my 50mm 1.8 to avoid the sun ray glare and for that extra protection against possible collision with any wall or rocks in the park. It's great for protection, but when it come to put it in a bag, it is a little bit bulky and it is difficult to find a comfy place for it. That is why I had to buy another bag. Other than that, it is great!

Protects and Shields

Shields the lens from extraneous light interference, protects against bumps/knocks. The hood screws into the filter threads--and does not allow for use of a filter unless connected outside of a double-threaded filter. For that reason, I barely use the thing, as I prefer to keep a UV filter on the lens.

Does the Job, fraction of cost!

Great cheap lens hood! I shot a concert on video in blazing afternoon sun, this hood came in handy. I watched other video/photographers wrapping cardboard around there lens because the had no hood. Sad, they should of checked out Adorama, lol!

No more lens cap

It screws on easily, it looks good and hopefully does it's job .. but you can no longer use the lens cap .. it fits in but will not stay secured. Luckily I invested in a hood hat and it works fine ... it also make the lens a lot more bulky. So best to store it with the hood off. With it's low price though, I would recommend it.

DO NOT BUY, FEELS CHEAP!!!

I'm thinking about returning this lens hood. I feel it will break after a couple of uses.

No problem for me

I like this one better than the canon one. This screws on the lens threads as opposed to the canon clip on one. Only bad thing is it cant flip back, it must be taken on and off before going back in the camera case.

Acceptable and usable

The product was very durable and usable--may not be really necessary for a 50mm except truly outdoors. There is no way to store it other than carry it with accessories, but it will only be used lightly so it will last forever.

Simple and effective

This nifty little hood is much easier to use than Canon's over-engineered first-party hood. It screws on, it screws off. No instructions needed!

good deal

Wish I could use my lens cap while it's attached, and it scratches very easily, but I like the fact that it screws on and stays on securely. Overall, it does what it's supposed to do.

Adequate

The inside of the Lens Hood scratches easily. Just taking the lens cap on and off scratches the inside of the hood. Other than that I am satisfied with the product. I would recommend spending the couple extra dollars for the Canon lens hood.

Great hood, better price

I do weddings, family portraits and family gatherings. The build is as good if not better than the Canon hood at about half the price.

One of the most important accessories for each lens you own. A lens hood provides multiple functions: it shades the lens from stray light, improving your contrast and image quality; in inclement weather, it can assist in keeping moisture or wind-blown debris off the lens; and it protects the front barrel from the inevitable impacts against walls, door frames, and other real-life obstacles.
