This lens hood fits my Canon 17-35mm f2.8 lens perfectly even though the lens has a deficiency of a cracked edge on the threads. The best part is it costs only a fraction of what the Brand name does.

The hood is a little flimsy but fits pretty well and locks to place with a nice gentle *click*. My only problem is that the hood "wings" are not perfectly aligned. The top "wing" is off-centered which probably wont' affect performance but still looks a little sloppy. I'm sure the Canon hood doesn't have this defect but then again, the Canon hood can't be had for under $10.

It's a lens hood - it has a simple function and it does it almost perfectly. It doesn't quite align (off by 5 degrees or so - not enough to really cause much trouble), but otherwise it does it's job: it connects securely, is sturdy enough and shades/protects the lens.

I use this product on my Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens (EW-83J) when I am shooting outdoors during the day (people and landscape). The feel of this lens hood is just as durable as the Canon one. I've had this lens hood for about a month and used it many times already. This lens hood fits but so tightly that at first I actually thought the hood didn't fit at all. You really have to hit the "sweet" spot and use perfectly even pressure to put the lens hood on. The plastic of the hood always rubs on the lens itself making a 'plastic on plastic' sound. Putting the lens hood on backward (for storage) is easier than putting it on to use. Overall I like this lens hood and it's not worth buying a Canon one just because it's not smooth to get on.

I was quite skeptical when I first ordered this hood. I thought since it is far cheaper than the original hood, it should be of low quality. I was definitely wrong. This is a fantastic replacement and very close to the original canon hood. Get one.

Seems flimsier than Canon hoods, but functions fine. A bargain compared to the outrageous price Canon charges, which should be free considering the lens was over $1000.

Simple hood nothing more, price is much lower than the original which i find ridiculous given it's just a piece of plastic. Could be lower in $$ of course.

Before I purchased this item a couple of weeks, I looked over several users' reviews. After I bought it, I found that this had no problem with my 17-55 mm lens. If you want to save your budget, this item would be a great alternative to the Canon's hood.

seems a little loose fitting. Could be lined with felt or have anti-reflective ribs on the inside to minimize reflectivity.

I haven't ordered the Canon version yet, as it is so expensive, but this cheaper version was a waste of money on its own. Every time I use it, it seems like I am stripping the finish off my lens. Not even close to the fit of my other Canon lens/hood combos (70-200 f2.8 or 70-200 f4).

Compared to another 3rd party lens hood for the same lens, this one is a definite step up. Unlike another reviewer, I found that this fits perfectly, with a 1/4 turn, either normal or reverse mounted. Doesn't have the cheesy internal flocking of another brand X hood. I will definitely buy Massa hoods when the Canon hood is so expensive.

I bought this because I had luck with the Adorama brand lens hood for my 28-135. Not so in this case. It's a bit tough to lock into position and when reverse mounted, it doesn't lock and only turns an 1/8 instead of the normal 1/4 to lock. It's flimsier than the Canon version too. I know the Canon version is overpriced, but IMHO, I think an extra $ is worth it to have the Canon version that exactly fits the lens and works exactly as it should.

This is not a Canon hood and an example of you get what you pay for. Having said that, is a decent value, it helps protect the lens and of course , protects from flare from the sun etc. My main use is for protection from hitting the lens against other surfaces. The fitting or locking feeling os not great and some times it doesn't lock, it doesn't have the internal lining as the Canon hood. At the end of the day I would buy this again, the Canon's is much more expensive
