This fits and works just as good as the OEM hood that came with the lens

This fits and works just as good as the OEM hood that came with the lens. I lost the hood for one of my 24-85mm and picked this one up because it was in stock and from a vendor I have used for years.

Same as Nikon

Broke my original Nikon hood. Tried this one. Seems indentical. No problems with the fit, either in storage or usage mode. Used on a 24-120 VR lens. JIM

for what this is I find it a bit over priced.Other than that it does its job.

Excellent

Lens hoods have the daul purpose of cutting down stray light and providing a little protection for the end of the lens. It was nice to be able to save a little money on something that may end up 'taking the hit' so the lens doesn't have to. I always use a filter like a skylight filter to protect my lenses. I use hoods the same way. Even when they aren't helping make the picture better, they provide some protection for the lens. I thought there was no drop off from or the original lens hood to the Adorama substitute. I would recomend it.

About Adorama Dedicated Lens Hood for Nikon HB-25

One of the most important accessories for each lens you own. A lens hood provides multiple functions: it shades the lens from stray light, improving your contrast and image quality; in inclement weather, it can assist in keeping moisture or wind-blown debris off the lens; and it protects the front barrel from the inevitable impacts against walls, door frames, and other real-life obstacles.
