This is an inexpensive reflector dish for the large 85 watt CFL lamps. It does a good job protecting them during transport. They are deep enough to shield the light from the lens when used as a hair or rim light. I tape tuff spun across the front to soften them if used as a key light. This deep narrow design IS NOT EFFICIENT like a parabolic design, so you'll lose a stop, but it's smaller and cheaper. I have 2 of these and they're always rolling around in my trunk, ready for use. Haven't broken a bulb yet.

Glad I found this; a very reasonable price for a good lens hood.

Looks like NIKON OEM, at half the price.

If you have the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens, get this hood. Can be mounted inverted when not in use, and is a breeze to put on. Take care that it will engage any filter you use. I sometimes have trouble getting it on straight when my Hoya polarizer is on the lens.

Really nice! I was looking at the original Nikon brand first, but it was too expensive for what it is. Decided to buy Adorama's and I'm very happy with it...

I read that some people use this hood and some say you don't need it. I got it because I don't want to lose a great picture some time to glare, which has happened before to me. It was cheaper than the Nikon one. The push clips seem like they may break easy so I just put it on the lens and leave it on. [...]

This lense hood fits the camera perfectly. It does the job I was expecting it to do.

The Nikon 18-55mm kit lens does not include the hood. This one works fine and is less expensive than the Nikon hood.

This is a pretty simple thing so a few words should suffice: it seems durable, it fits and it works. It's much lower cost than the Nikon one so I thought I'd give it a try and it was a good deal.

Does the job. But I sent in back and got the Nikon brand. It's not as good in terms of quality, the buttons aren't as smooth and the plastic looks way cheap. The Nikon has the nicer matte-finish textured plastic that matches the lens and body and this one is just smooth plastic that's really dinky looking. But if you're not like me and don't care about cosmetics then this one would be fine.

Gotta have (and use) a lens hood. This one does the job and saves 5 bucks. Works just like the OEM unit.

One of the most important accessories for each lens you own. A lens hood provides multiple functions: it shades the lens from stray light, improving your contrast and image quality; in inclement weather, it can assist in keeping moisture or wind-blown debris off the lens; and it protects the front barrel from the inevitable impacts against walls, door frames, and other real-life obstacles.
