It works well for a wide angle lens, no vignetting. It works very well with a Circular Polarizer on the lens first then the hood. The hood will rotate the Polarizer, & since its round, not petal shaped - the shade is not changed. Of course, a screw in hood is the only way to still have a hood if you use a step up ring (if you don't want to buy filters for every size lens). The threads on the ring are clean and well machined. It seems well made.

I'm not a big fan of the plastic bayonet-mounted lens hoods that are supplied by manufacturers. I much prefer screw-in metal hoods. This one is perfect, and priced right.

Lens hoods guard against uncontrolled, stray light and unwanted reflections which result in reduced contrast and possible "ghost Images". In general, the use of a lens hood is recommended because better contrast improves the appearance of the photograph. This accessory also offers protection for the front lens element against rain and mechanical damage.
Metal Lens Hood are made of black anodized aluminum. It is suitable for Wide Angle Lenses.
