I bought this TV back in 2012 from Amazon as a bedroom TV. I wanted something with deep blacks and an overall good picture. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out it had all of those things and then some! While not a daily driver anymore, it still gets fired up at least once or twice a week, and still looks great for casual bedroom watching/gaming. I can't wait until my childrens' children inherit this beast of a TV and it's still working!

This tv isn't a smart tv but it is great anyway. Great picture, sound, reliability, and performance. I would recommend this level tv to everyone. Really there is no need for 3d and the smart tv feature is nice but not necessary.

When I was in the market for a new TV, it was because my old LCD Rear Projection finally died. I didn't want anything fancy, because I had Smart components to connect to the TV. Plus I hadn't planned on needing a new TV, so I had a small budget to work with. This TV was perfect. Plenty of HDMIs, Optical, USB, etc, without any unneeded extras. The picture quality is good enough for me and my family, and we are HD-snobs. I would recommend and will add LG to my list of go-to brands for electronics.

Has so many options and features hard to know what do first. Love the notification of incoming calls no more going to the phone to check caller ID.

We've had our new 50" LG plasma TV for about a month now and we are thoroughly enjoying it. We're feeding it with digital cable and the images are phenomenal. Some of the features that we've already found useful are the Cinema Zoom to fill the screen with a DVD image that is HD aspect ratio but with box bars on all four sides, and the feature of setting image size automatically according to broadcast. We tweaked on the default brightness/contrast settings to get just the picture we wanted, and adjusted audio tone settings to our preferences. Over all really happy with the product. By the way, the narrow frame around the screen is a definite styling plus. Our only negative is one that comes with all plasma TV's: the screen glass is mirror finish, so reflections from lights and windows can be bothersome. But that just comes with the territory. We could have purchased even better performance by paying a lot more money, but this unit is at the sweet spot of performance and price. Love it!

Great overall TV. The only extra I would want is to rename the Channels for easier navigation.

For the price, this is a great TV. I chose this model over others at the same price point because it had 3 HDMI ports. Instead of buying an 'internet tv' I bought this basic tv and a Roku Box connected via one of the HDMI ports -- it's cheaper and you get the same functionality with a better user interface. Also, the sound quality and volume on this tv are excellent. If you want a real home theater no matter what tv you get, you'll have to get a sound system, but for casual use the sound is great. The only downsides are that (1) The screen is rather glossy and you get glare if there are any windows in the room and (2) The remote has really weak signal. You need to point it very directly at the corner of the tv with the IR receiver or it doesn't work.

I'm a no frills kind of person. 3D - Gives me headaches. Smart Functions - Hate them. Streaming Media - Who wants to watch standard definition content on a HDTV? I just hook up my Blu-ray player and receiver and I'm good to go. This television is perfect for my needs. Just calibrated and it blows away sets costing twice as much.

We are extremely pleased with the quality and performance of this television. The features and set-up are user friendly and the picture is GREAT!!! It would be nice if it was a smart TV, but we knew that when we purchased it so we can't use that as a downfall. We would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for excellent viewing at an affordable price.

This product is a great for the price, but beware the sound quality is not so great. I get a vibration or treble noise when watching blu ray dvds, even though I have it connect through HDMI cable I tried adjust the treble but still no better results so I just decrease the volume until it stops. Also you may not want to place this tv in a room with windows because you will get a glare from the protective screen.

Purchase the 50PA6500 50" plasma set three weeks ago. The setup was fast, unclomplicated, and the picture quality was easy to manipulate with the onscreen control. Am very pleased with the result. I did overide the energy limiting feature because I prefer an image other than the limiting control of the energy saver. That was easy to do and I can match any set out there in color and brightness in the price range that I paid.

I did a lot of reading before buying this TV and I'm happy with my purchase. I followed the calibration steps listed by another reviewer and have a beautiful picture. I've had this TV for just a month.

I did a lot of research on HD TV's before I purchased this 50 " LG Plasma. I decided to buy this model because the size was perfect, the advertized overall picture quality and relative cost compared to the LED technology. I was not disappointed this TV is a great value and our family loves it

I currently have 4 LG televisions in my house and they are outstanding products. Easy set up, lots of features and quality products. I love the picture wizard tool for picture settings. It makes it so easy to set up for everyone from novice tv users to tweakers like me. LG makes great tv's, and this 50PA6500 Plasma is another awsome addition to my household! Beautiful picture, lots of connection options, and a great buy! If you don't need 3D and smart features, this is a fantastic tv! Contrast is amazing, great black level, and amazing picture!

Purchased this TV in July of 2012 it is now Christmas morning and TV will not stay turned on. Prior to the TVs demise it worked well enough, though the sound quality was terrible, picture quality was good. I guess the only plus side is that I called customer service and set up a repair, considering it was Christmas morning I was surprised to get a person on the line.

Pay more and get an LCD - plasma is too dim in a lit room, also too much reflection on the screen. Also go for the 60 inch, not 50.

I did alot of research before this purchase. I had been watching a 19" tube tv before and this tv blows me away! Alittle confused by the setting directions but everything is fine now. Still haven't figured out the closed captioning.

I searched for a TV for a long time. After month of reading reviews, researching and Going back and forth between plasma and LED, I came across this gem. It was at the perfect price point for its size. All my research led my to the conclusion, I want a nice size screen and a great picture. All the other bells and whistles such as #D, Internet WIFI were not important to me as most devices you are going to connect and update more often, for less money, already has them and I don't enjoy 3D. The picture out of the box was good. After about 10-15 minutes of adjustment it was great. All that and it is thin enough to mount on a wall. Once you factor in the price it was in my castle 48 hours later. Perfect TV for your normal TV watcher..

The only feature that I am used to having on our TV's BUT is lacking on this one - not abe to set it up for captioning when it is on mute. Captioning is either set for ALL the time or NOT AT ALL! This is NOT the case on all my previous TV sets of the last 20 years or so. I wish this TV had this great feature ... especially when the phone rings right in the middle of a favorite movie/program one is watching. Hopefully, this feature will be added to future LG TV's! How about it, LG?

This is my first HD television, so I have no real basis of comparison, but it is difficult to see how one could be better. It is very clear as it comes and easy to adjust. I was surprised by the relatively low price. The full width is wonderful for travelogues and sports. For news I prefer the option of width determined by the program, since otherwise faces are sometimes too enlarged.

Took this TV out of the box, went through the set up and the picture was great. After a week went through the Picture Wizard set up and now the picture is even better. Great TV for sports viewing.

I bought this TV online because the title of the Google search result for the link to the LG site said "LG 50PA6500: 50 inch Class 3D capable 1080P Plasma TV with ...". Note the "3D capable" part, which also displays in the browser tab when you visit the LG site. I bought the TV expecting 3D and was disappointed to find it didn't have it. I contacted LG and their response was essentially, "We'll fix our web page...thanks." No recognition that I paid for one thing and got cheated. No offer to resolve the situation. Just "too bad for you". We have one other LG TV and an LG washer and dryer. I've been an LG fan for years but no more. This company does not care about fixing mistakes that ripoff its customers.

Awesome picture, sound and value for the money!

Ok, I originally purchased another brand same specs however, when I got to the store they sold my tv by accident so they say. They offered me the LG 50PA6500 instead which I liked the look but was bias due to having had experience with the other brand for years. Though, I have other appliance which are LG, never an entertainment piece. I took it home since I had a 30 day return policy. Let me tell you, Awesome!!! What I paid and the kind of picture, sound, look, and component selection pretty...

A Must Own for Hi-Def Lovers!

This is my first plasma TV, and I dont know why people are so gaga over LED. This plasma is has better resolution and a much better refresh rate giving the picture more vibrancy and a near blur free screen. The sound on this LG model is really good, although I do find my previous Vizio television to be better in this department. I really like how the picture adjusts itself to the light, and the picture features I can change it to if I'm watching a movie, or a game for example. But I just ca...

The LG 50PA6500 50" Plasma TV is featured with triple XD engine and a resolution upscaler. The Full HD 1080p gives it superior picture quality over standard HDTV. The 600Hz refresh rate virtually eliminates motion blur. Peel away the old standard for this super black paneled ultra slim framing. It is a smart energy saving. It comes with an intelligent sensor. It also yields benefits like clear voice II and picture wizard II.
