Overall a good TV

Although I've got 3 other LG tv's, this is our biggest one. We've had it a few years and though we've been very happy with it, it has developed a green vertical line going through the picture. It happened right after the warranty expired (of course). It also randomly shuts itself off when it gets hot. Not all the time, just sometimes. So we are just trying to ignore it and will watch it until it dies, then replace it. I can't say we won't buy another one since we have 3 others which are fine...maybe we just got a bad one.

Excellent all-around quality

I bought this TV in January 2011 to watch the Super Bowl. My first really big TV. I was awed by the feeling that I was actually in a movie theater! Of course, now I'm used to the big, clear picture, but I love it no less now. Excellent product.

Best Investment Ever

I can't stress enough how much I've fallin' in love with this TV! I have it connected to my receiver and everything else connected to that! crisp, non laggy and very dark blacks! The only problem i may have with it is heat, but thats how all plasmas are going to be. no big deal, i'd probably just make some kind of closed air circulation system for the tv eventually.

best plasma TV for the price!

I have had this TV for almost a year and we just love this tv! When we get ready to watch one of our movies on Blu Ray I switch it to THX mode on the tv and it looks and sounds amazing! Everyone that comes over always says the tv looks great! I will definitely be buying another LG TV in the future!

Great TV

Really couldn't ask for more. The picture quality is great. Would like a few more "tweaking" the picture settings features and built in Netflix is great. However, most of the Widgets are useless and too slow.

Excellent TV for the money

I bought this TV November 2010 and after almost 1 year the picture is still amazing. Before my purchase I researched over 10 TV's Plasma and LCD. And for the money this TV is my best purchase on an electronic item. If I had to purchase another TV I would this same model or another LG product. I also recommend getting the extended warranty. I had a small issue and the LG Tech came to my home and fixed the problem in a few minutes. Another benefit to owning LG products is that the customer support is excellent. I placed 1 customer service call and 15 minutes later an appointment was made. Quick and easy. My first LG TV and now I am a customer for life. Keep up the good work LG. Life is Good.

Great tv

I purchased this tv to replace my living room tv. had a Sony Wega CRT 32". This tv is great with natural colors great black levels. I have a decent amount of light coming in the room but glare is less than I had with the sony. I'm sure it's not as good with glare as some of the lcd's out there. I looked for tv's, both lcd and plasma, in the 50" range that would give me internet connectivity and great picture quality for sports and movies. Most lcd's were in the $1200.00 range. This tv has great features and and great picture quality for an unbeatable price. If you use the picture wizard to set up the image I feel the image quality is on par with the best plasma costing several thousand more. Truly the best bang for your buck.

LG Picture Quality Impressive

I have owned the LG for 3 months and have learned how to use it. It helps to read the manual before operation. I wanted WiFi, and the picture was great so I bought the LG over the competition. The sound is good but for my deaf ears I needed more volume and clearer audio for speech recognition. The TV sound is directed down into the table, not out the front. The LG has typical audio configuration capability which is helpful, but was not enough. I pirated a receiver and couple of stereo speakers from my old Onkyo system and the system works great but has two sound systems. I keep the TV low so I know it is on and use the Onkyo for listening to movies etc. The TV was very easy to set up and looks very good. LG did a good job of making an elegant system. I decided on the LG after visiting several retail stores and comparing pictures. After owning Sony TVs for 25 years, it was a difficult decision. I also wanted a 60" Screen so was comparing the LG 60" to an LG 50." I am happy I chose the 50" because watching from around 8 feet the 60" would have been overpowering in my opinion. Besides the sound I wish the LG did not have so many remote controls, I need 3 remotes (Cable, TV, DVD Player). This LG throws quite a bit of screen heat so be prepared to cool your room and keep it in a proper location. Overall I give this a thumbs up and 4 Stars overall.

The Buzz About an Awesome TV

Great TV, with ever so slight a buzzing noise that is the function of the picture brightness. I can only hear it when everything is absolutely quiet and I am fast forwarding the remote DVR. It sounds like a transformer or capacitor noise. I cannot hear it over the TV's volume - only when the TV is on mute and it is displaying a very bright image (I sit 8' away). The LG Certified Tech verified everything and said that he believes that it is due to the 2010 panels being much thinner - less material to absorb and dampen out the vibrations (once a Mechanical Engineer, always a Mechanical Engineer). The long story: Bought it a couple of weeks ago from another vendor. It arrived late Sunday night, so I did not have time to really enjoy it until the following weekend, by which time I had also completed the 100 hour Plasma TV burn in. I gave my wife the option of this TV, the equivalent and equally priced Samsung 50" (with 2 million contrast ration in place of the LG's 3), versus the Panasonic G25 for an additional $300. I took her to a store that had all 3, and she picked this for its beautiful clean lines. I had a concern about the Panasonic TV retaining its deep black levels, so I was relieved (if it was not for that, I would have just picked the Panasonic and not mentioned the other two). I was also concerned about the Samsung's buzzing noise, which seems to afflict random sets (even in the 2010 models). I sat to watch the TV over the following weekend. Everything was fine during the day, but at night, when the hose was perfectly quiet, I started to hear a very slight buzzing noise whenever I fast forwarded or paused the DVR'd programs - especially whenever the image was very bright. Upon further investigation, I realized that the noise was coming from the back of the TV, and that if I pushed in on the back of the TV (bottom right quarter, as you are looking at the TV from the front), I could cut the noise by 2/3rds. Had the tech come out and he verified it. Had the store bring a replacement today, and it had the exact same issue (sitting on a different table), so I sent the new one back. FYI: The Tech said that the Samsung's noise is more of a very loud (by comparison to my LG's noise) rattle, caused by a vibrating coil. He also offered to replace the LG's board, but said that he doubted very much if that would resolve anything. I could still return this and get the Panasonic, but I will not: It looks much more impressive than the Panasonic and I can only hear the light buzz if it is mute, at night, on a torch bright screen. I am loving it and keeping it.
