Great product at a great price

Both the keyboard and the mouse work perfectly. I have dozens of Logitech keyboards and mice and always get good results with them. Dell shipped them out quickly but the packaging was horrible. the product box was put inside a larger box and had no packing material around it. Luckily the Logitech packaging was sufficient to protect the product from the shipping gorillas

A very nice combo

I have used each of these separately but being able to purchase them as a set and get an additional savings was a bonus. I love the feel of the keys and the fact that the keyboard is reverse screened and backlit allows the keyboard to last longer or at least the letters and numbers don't come off the keyboard. I have one keyboard that I have currently used for about 12 months and still looks and works as designed. The mouse is very nice as well. A little beefier than most and fills the hand nicely.

Keyboard ok, but mouse performance terrible

Although I do like the keyboard, I cannot rate the performance higher than poor because the mouse is truly useless. I've used many wireless mouse products over the years, but this is the first one that has ever exhibited such horrendous performance. It is very choppy on the screen. It is difficult to be productive with it because there is a multi-second lag by the time the mouse pointer moves to where you expect you've already moved it again. Sometimes it takes a minute or so to accomplish something while trying to get the pointer exactly where you want on the screen. This is unacceptable. I waited too long to return it hoping that it was just a driver issue, but logitech clearly hasn't fixed the problem after all this time. The driver for this product has been upgraded several times, and the performance is no better. Also the battery life is terrible. It seems as though ever few days the battery is dead on the mouse. It's astonishing. You are better off with a mouse that runs on AA or AAA batteries. With normal batteries I normally don't worry about power for months at a time. With this piece of garbage, the battery goes dead at least once a week so it is plugged in to a wire most of the time anyway. you might as well just have a wired mouse if it has to be plugged into a charger so often! I'm normally a big fan of logitech products, but this product is lousy!

What I was hoping for

Haven't gotten into any high end drafting or drawing programs yet but for general everyday use, I am happy.

Logitech Wireless Combo Disappoints

I purchased the Logitech Wireless Performance Combo MX800- Keyboard & Mouse Set about a month ago as an upgrade for my new computer. I wanted an illuminated keyboard for my home office, which is dimly lit during the nighttime. I also wanted an illuminated keyboard to help me better see the keyboard as I have sight limitations. I decided to purchase the keyboard and mouse as a set to avoid any compatibility issues. I've always been a loyal Logitech customer due to their quality, performance and design standards. The keyboard and mouse seem to be of good quality. It is a breeze typing on the quiet keyboard. The mouse tracks well and is highly accurate. Both, the keyboard and mouse, have built in NiMH rechargeable batteries that have to be charged via a USB cable (supplied). Logitech predicts about 15 hrs. of use between charges and that seems accurate. The keyboard is designed to illuminate only when in use. It senses when your fingers get close to the keys and presto, it lights up. This is an energy saving feature. The touch-on feature is nice, but only after you initially locate the keyboard in a dimly lit space. Overall, the keyboard is good but it's disappointing to have to monitor the battery level and go through the bother to plug it in for a recharge. It has a battery level meter, but it only shows the battery level when you first turn on the keyboard. The mouse is ergonomically designed for comfort. It has lots of bells and whistles. It also has a battery level meter, but it only shows the battery level when you first turn on the mouse. The mouse is difficult to use if you have big hands. The basic functions, left & right click and the scroll wheel work great. The back and forward buttons are on the left side of the mouse, just above the zoom button. The forward button is fairly accessible but the back button is difficult to operate as it's placed farther towards the rear of the mouse and is difficult to reach. The back and forward buttons are very small and very close to the zoom button, which often causes the zoom button to be pushed by mistake. The scroll wheel and mode shift buttons work well. There is also another button, the application button on the lower left side. Overall, the mouse is good, if you have small or average hands. With bigger hands, you will find the back and forward operation to feel very awkward, slow and inaccurate. Overall, the keyboard and mouse seem to be of quality build but more thought could have gone into the design of the placement of certain buttons, especially, the back and forward button and the zoom button. It's also a step backwards to have to take extra steps to charge the keyboard and mouse separately. My last Logitech wireless mouse charged while in a storage holder and it was always fully charged and ready for use. No extra steps with the old unit. A wired illuminated keyboard would have been a better option to avoid the need of recharging a second unit. The price tag was too steep for these units.

Laser Optics
Laser tracking is known for precision. This accuracy is achieved by angling the laser light to capture specular reflection, which illuminates greater surface contrasts. Stronger light source and more efficient sensor placement typically make laser mice superior to standard optical mice, especially for the variety of surfaces on which it tracks.

Advanced Optics
Logitech borrowed a page from laser optics technology when creating their advanced LED optics. By angling the LED and repositioning the sensor, Advanced Optical Tracking processes more surface contrast and responds like a laser mouse.

Darkfield Technology
Both optical and traditional laser mice use irregularities on the surface to track the direction and speed of the mouse movements. For this reason, traditional mice do not perform well on shiny surfaces. This is where Darkfield Laser Tracking comes in. Darkfield uses the smallest possible detail to create a micro-road map of the surface so you get better precision on more surfaces, even glass. Logitech Darkfield Laser Tracking Wherever you use a mouse, Logitech has one for you.
