While it may not be a true macro lens, its lightweight design and compatibility with standard cine matte boxes and filter holders make it a quick and efficient tool for cinematographers. The Brilliant Diopters from Lindsey Optics are not just magnifying lenses, but are plano convex lenses crafted to the highest standards specifically for the world of cinematography. These lenses are designed to fit seamlessly into cine matte boxes, and we offer a range of clamping adapters to attach our 4.5" Round Diopters directly to cine lens barrels. These close-up lenses allow cine lenses to focus on smaller objects at a closer range than what's normally possible with the lens alone. They are designed to work flawlessly with cine prime lenses and cine zooms. Each of our close-up lenses has a focal length expressed in millimeters, but for convenience, we express the focal length in "diopters", which is simply the reciprocal of the focal length in meters. Our Round Drop-In Diopters are available in two standard cine sizes: 4 1/2 Inch Round and 138mm Round. The 4.5" Round Drop-In Diopters come in four strengths: +1/2, +1, +2, and +3, while our 138mm Round Drop-In Diopters are available in five strengths: +1/4, 1/2, +1, +2, and +3. For a quick and convenient solution, consider our Brilliant Tray Mount Close-Up Lenses. These are our 138mm diopters mounted in 4x5.65 Matte Box Trays, using the same high-quality glass as our Round Drop-In close-up lenses. They are easy to insert in the matte box, making them perfect for quickly getting the right shot with a variety of lenses with different focal lengths, including large diameter prime lenses and zoom lenses. Lindsey Optics Brilliant Filters are crafted from the finest optical glass and feature our robust, multi-layer BROADBAND anti-reflective coating.
