If you like your sound systems to have enough bass to rattle your kidneys. . or . .if you like to listen to your TV at the maximum volume level. .or. .if you are expecting the LAP240 to sound like a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system, then move on to another product review. The LAP240 is a major improvement over the anemic TV speakers included on most LED Flat Screen TV's. It provides detailed highs, clear mids for conversation and decent lows to pleasantly round out the sound coming from your TV. The LAP240 is more attractive and far sleaker than any of the soundbases that I previously tried using in my home environment. Most of the negative reviews knock the LAP240 because it only has an optical connection. They also say that the sound of the LAP240 distorts at the maximum volume level that they test it at. Fortunately, both my TV and Set Top Box have optical outputs. Also, I never listen to my TV at anything close to the maxium volume level. Perhaps, that is why I am very pleased with the sound improvement provided by the LAP240 and would recommend it to anyone. That is, anyone not wanting an infrasonic massage of their kidneys.

Set up on my Sony Bravia 42 inch TV. Using the included cable. Sound was good but the sound and the video would not snyc. Returned to store.

We really enjoy the "Soundplate," it fits in a very small area that we have for the TV and does give great sound. The only drawback we have so far is the way the volume itself changes. You have to hold the increase button until the sound begins to increase, then you may have to run it back down a little bit. There is no way to see what your volume setting is so that you can repeat it. Other than that, we love it!
