Annoying but still great.

I'm mostly enthralled with the size, aspect ratio and curvature of the display itself. The other shortcomings end up irritating me so, that about once a week since I've owned it, I take it off my desk and box it back up with the intention of listing it on ebay. But then I go back to a 27" display and it's just so tiny compared to this, I notice my eyes straining, and I pull it back out, set it up, and enjoy being able to comfortably see again. But having to use the under-display nipple is extremely annoying, especially when it gives you seconds to scramble under there to connect to bluetooth or it drops the audio connection (and stop asking me to click it to verify the audio at random time, I set it that way, I want it that way) and the lack of volume control over Mac OS is a headache, but probably Apples fault for breaking everything with every OS and never bothering to issuing fixes, and it's 2023 and there's no PIP??? When I'm working I want to see the hdmi input coming in in a small PIP window, like my old monitor had the ability to do IN 2002. Cutting the display in half is a huge waste of space, especially if the 2nd input is a 16:9. 1. Put an infrared receiver in the new model (costs $2) so we can control the volume and input from across the room, 2, add true PIP, 3, drivers for OS's back to Big Sur Mojave (yes, for all who still needs 32bit for their work), 4, fix the timeout settings. Even with as frustrating as the User Experience is with this thing, it's still the best computer accessory I've ever owned based on the size and shape alone. Fix that stuff and I'll fill my office with them.

good has some quirks

the extra desktop space is great and being able to set zones on the monitor allows for a better workflow. leave the monitor to go to sleep, cause turning it off causes the workflow zones to be reset every gd time. Then there a weird power over heat issue, and the Bluetooth audio is not happy

Was great for awhile?? then died

Bought this three years go, then one day the toggle switch underneath stopped working and would not respond at all. Nothing ?. Nada ?. terribly disappointing because up to then it was great? I make it a practice not to buy consecutively from the same manufacturer or supplier after getting burned.

Awesome Dual Computer Input

I purchased this monitor because I was working out of two different computers cohesively. I love the size and functionality. I wish the KVM was a hardware one instead. I have not been able to download the software needed for the onscreen management and KVM switch management to toggle between computers with one mouse and one keyboard. Things to note - KVM switch is software based and requires software to be downloaded to both computers. PIP hardware - software is not needed to display two different computers at the same time. Speakers - good quality speakers, however sound only seems to work on the USB C connection, not the HDMI. (Workaround is connecting second computer via Bluetooth.) No Mic - I bought a webcam and use this for the mic and camera. USB Plugs - they seem a little wonky and this worries me a little. Definitely must be gentle when connecting and disconnecting cables. Overall, I love my monitor and would recommend.

Great centrepiece to the setup

It’s a pretty great screen. Taller than I thought it was going to be but just the right size the replace 2 ~22 inch monitors. Has some useful features, I keep it simple and all works well. Great that you can split the screen across two devices with separate connections. The blinking light during power saving mode is a little annoying and it does few like the resolution could be a little sharper. But overall it looks great and works well. Don’t think I could go back to 2 separate monitors now. Recommend it

Great screen best size

The screen size is for me best compared with 2 and 3 seperate monitor setup. When sharing the screen in video converence the full aspect ratio is not best to share. Selecting a different aspect ratio in software makes it better. An option for hardware selection would be an improvement. Also seperate buttons for the input selection I would like better then the joystick control. The screen is to me perfect bright and sharp .

Great work monitor!

Great monitor with awesome colors. Works well for me as work monitor using HDMI at full and native resolution. A bit tough to clean, but that is a minor issue.

Great for productivity

I bought this monitor for the whole work at home situation around 5 months ago, I do IT support and typically work on 3 monitors at a time so going from that to a laptop screen was a rough transition. This monitor can very easily substitute for 2 screens but without the annoying split in the middle. This monitor is a perfect size, I was worried it would be kind of thin vertically but it is not. The angle of viewing is also great with the monitor's slight curvature, if I have to move my head it's never enough to notice or cause neck strain. The monitor is also very bright, I typically turn it down quite low and can still see everything very well. I have a MacBook setup through USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) and it is pretty seamless. My only wish is that the monitor provided a higher wattage charge-through as the newer MacBook requires ~90W and I believe this monitor only provides 60-65W. I ended up getting a good Thunderbolt dock to supplement this however and the USB-C connection allows me to plug things into the other available USB ports on the monitor and still have my MacBook recognize them and receive data. The monitor also has a fast charge feature, though I haven't really had a need to use it since I have other things that do a great job of that already. Another cool feature with the MacBook is that you can create several "Desktops" so I can have several different workstation setups going at the same time with several windows on each and all it takes is a three finger swipe on the MacBook trackpad to switch between them instantly, it helps a LOT with productivity as I can separate everything and switch when I need them. I never use the bluetooth speakers on this monitor, they're just not that great- but I didn't get this monitor for the speakers in the first place. This monitor also has PBP mode. I don't use it super often, but I actually have my computer (USB-C T3) and a Nintendo Switch (HDMI) plugged in at the same time and can split the screen in half to operate both the Switch and my computer. Kind of comes in handy for slow work from home days LOL. My only gripe is that it will only let you output the audio from one plugged in device at a time while in this mode, though you could rig it to play both- just doesn't work that way by default. This monitor has been so helpful for productivity and the resolution looks great, better than most standard monitors since it is not 1080p. The only reason I'm giving this 4/5 stars is because after 4 months the monitor died out of nowhere and with no warning. Thankfully LG is willing to repair it since it is still under warranty but that is definitely concerning. If you buy this monitor I would strongly suggest spending a little more to get a good warranty that covers past the initial first year of standard coverage from LG. Though if you're spending the money to get this in the first place, even though it's not by any means overpriced (though it definitely used to be..), why chance it anyways.

I was expecting MORE...

I really did my homework when I studied other manufacturers, sizes and versions of curved monitors before purchasing this one. I selected this one because for its size has better resolution than others. However images blur, setting it up to look with decent life in colors was challenging, 2 computers at a time... very hand unless you have C input and HDMI cables, both HDMIs don't work at the same time. You can only split in half, no other options. For the size this should have a better resolution and controllers should be easier to set up. I don't dare to touch anything because I already messed it up once and was a nighmare to get it to work or look right again. I recomend only if you are a simple person not wanting anything "fantastic". Just a large screen to see bigger things. Not much for clarigy on Text. Keep in ming I have NOT tested this on any games. Just Photoshop and watching movies which lack a lot of color, very sad and low tones. Have fixed tones the best I could.

Excellent width, limited height

Bought this to replace an older LG monitor which finally died. Do like the curved form, as all parts of the screen equidistant. Have discovered that the lesser height (compared to my prior monitor) requires making landscape pages smaller or viewing only a portion at a time. In retrospect, might have been better to purchase a monitor with more height and less width

Great for video editing

I love the real state on this monitor while using Premier Pro, I used to have to monitors and I was a bit hesitant to make the switch, but after trying for over a month I'm not going back. I have not tested the dual computer mode but the split screen mode is not working out that great for me. The price is high but this is my work tool so I look it at as an investment.

Dual Controller

The Dual Controller is a good idea for the normal user with two devices connecting to a single monitor, BUT not for the user that has a separate home computer and a work coputer using a VPN. There is no option to select which IP address to select in the settings. Dual Controller automatically selects the primary IP from the Sub PC. This is a problem because both devices must be on the same network. When I connect to my Corporate VPN, the Corporate VPN becomes the primary IP. It would be great if I could select the wireless IP manually rather than the automatic IP selection for connection.

Fabulous visual real estate

Looking to have one large monitor rather than spread desktops across multiple applications, this LG 38UC99-W fits the bill nicely. Plenty of space for multiple applications, enabling seamless doc editing, coding, and multimedia editing. Colors are sharp and true, and the matte screen prevents glare. Multiple connections (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc make hookups a breeze. I look forward to getting another soon.

Split screen bliss!

I've been using my UltraWide screen for spreadsheets and CAD these few months and I genuinely feel more productive! Comparing documents and copy/pasting info back and forth is a breeze while also be aesthetically pleasing. I spend hours in front the screen everyday and appreciate the USB connectivity in the back and the decent built-in speakers when I'm alone and can play some music or watch videos during breaks. Even the curvature seems to eliminate some glare! Great Buy!

Best monitor I have ever used

This is by far the best monitor I have ever used in my 35 years of computing. The clarity and color accuracy is amazing. I use it with a Mac Powerbook, so I have to connect a single cable between my laptop and the monitor, and everything else connects to the back of the monitor, including power and USB ports.

Love the great working space

My boss purchased this monitor a month ago. I was skeptical about it being any better than having 2 monitors. I was wrong. It is so much nicer having a screen this wide without the split of two monitors. And, the resolution and color are amazing. I do a lot of graphics work in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

The best display I have ever owned, easily

I am a developer / programmer and I have had many setups over the years. 3 screens, vertical screens, kvm switches and this display allows me to setup my environment perfectly. Primarily I split the screen in 3 - first third is the browser, the other two thirds terminal and then the terminal I split in thirds again. No bezels get in the way of setting it up how I want. Also very nice for some casual gaming. Only wish the backing game in a darker colour. Oh and please make a high DPI 38 inch - maybe 6 or 8k?

Stunning display

Very impressed with the build quality and the image profile of this display. There isn’t much to be desired. The connection ports on the back work well as a hub for laptops and power my MacBook Pro along with display and data throuput using a single thunderbolt 3/usb-c connection. If I had one request it would be to improve the UX design of the settings menu as there are several redundant menu categories but overall it is fine.

I've been using the monitor for a few months for my research an I love it! I can see all of the necessary code, reference material, executables, and I still manage to squeeze in some room for a video. One of the best investments I've made in a while.

Beautiful Monitor, But...

By Speed007

This is a gorgeous monitor with plenty of workspace side-to-side. Picture quality approaches the best professional monitors. But, I want the big curved screen with this readable dot pitch at the full 16:9 4k resolution. Just make it a little bit taller and 3840x2160 (or 4096x2160!) and it's absolutely my dream monitor.
