Extreme flickering occurs when specific colors are displayed. If you somehow manage to ignore it and avoid an epileptic seizure, you're rewarded with temporary, burn-in-like image retention. This effect is only alleviated by displaying a plain white screen for a few minutes or by waiting a couple of hours for it to disappear on its own.

Did not last long and they was $700 to repair. I spent so much money on this monitor only to have it break on me with normal use. I was looking at the monitor and it literally stopped working

Great monitor for productivity, perfect size, resolution and ratio. Haven't encountered an issue so far. Really happy with my purchase.

Do not buy! I bought this monitor back in July 2023 and was initially in love with it. Huge screen, 5K2K resolution, nice curves.... what's not to like? Except that I started experiencing flickering, burn-in / ghost images, flashes, etc. Initially it was extremely rare and disappeared quickly, but eventually became a permanent feature. I opened a case in May 2024, shipped my monitor to LG, and it took over 2 months (!!) to get a monitor back. I received a brand new unit, and sadly I'm experiencing the same issues again, which I've confirmed with three different MacBooks (a M1 Pro, M2 and a M3 Pro), and with different cables. It seems to be a known issue with this monitor, as I now see many reviews and complaints online. I have now asked LG to refund me as the monitor is completely unusable on Macs it looks like.

I bought this monitor from Best Buy 5 months ago . Ive used it everyday since . I probably spend 50 hrs/wk behind this monitor . It is simply excellent , expensive but excellent . What I don't understand is why they put two HDMI connectors but only one DP ? I have seen where full 5120x2160 resolution is not available when using a HDMI cable with adapter for DP only graphics cards . I spent hours blaming the monitor and PC before discovering the problem went away once I used a DP 1.4 cable .Best I can get using HDMI cable with DP adapter is 4k .

Constantly flickers and speakers went bad. LG would not honor the warranty - they claimed that the return boxes were backordered - I've been waiting months for a return box. Finally bought a Dell monitor.

Purchased LG 40WP95C Started to experience a number of black/gray horizontal lines across the screen very disappointed after 1yr and 5 months that this monitor is already failing Tech support claims the board needs to be replaced for $700....Really???? this monitor should be replace by LG you may not want to take a chance for a monitor that fails just after the warranty expires too expensive to fail this soon expected better from LG!

I bought this monitor in January of 2024. I purchased it because it had better resolution than competing monitors as well as being an IPS monitor and I prefer color accuracy and brightness. I have a window that can sometimes shine from behind me (despite the blinds) and it disturbs me a bit. The slight tilt down as well as the higher brightness than other monitors were also key decisions for me. I haven't truly utilized the 'picture in picture' mode of the monitor. Knowing those features were present was nice. Bonus points that I can charge my late-2019 (Intel) MBP from the monitor itself.

The display itself is wonderful especially if your a Mac user but the speakers are absolutely horrid. I've had to replace the first monitor after the first week because there was so much distortion even at 10% volume levels. The replacement monitor also had the same exact issue. I am beyond the 15 day return date so now I'm stuck with it. I am now forced to purchase external speakers cause the internal ones are simply garbage. For a flagship monitor from LG, I expected more. TLDR: Great display but speakers cause major distortion.

If you work in a room with windows and need to do user interface or graphics work. AVOID THIS MONITOR. You might love the size but that is the only selling point. This monitor is so so dim and contrast is not good enough. Even at 100% brightness, my white looks gray. This is very difficult when it came to UI work and I couldn't tell the difference between my shades of gray and white. Or when I'm color correcting images. I would have to cover all my windows to see colors more accurately. I love the size, but if you're in the design industry, I don't recommend it. I think my dev friend loves it though, but he works in the lower floor away from windows.

Started off great, but then the screen cracked within a year while simply adjusting the viewing angle. There is virtually no bezel so you have no choice in where to place your fingers, which is directly on the screen when tilting it. See the 2" plus long crack in the attached photo. The crack continues to grow longer and wider. Tech support told me I would have to ship it to a repair shop to be fixed, they refused to send a repairman to my home. This screen is so big and awkward that it would absolutely be destroyed if I tried to ship it in anything other than the original packing, which I don't have. Because of a complete lack of support from LG, this is nothing but a $2,000 piece of junk. After owning many LG products including phones, monitors, and TV's, I couldn't be more disappointed in how they treat a loyal customer, especially in regards to such a high value product.

The experience started out okay for a few months then it just died. The monitor went out to service for the thunderbolt input dying once already. The unit worked for a few days and now we are back to no input being detected. Both times this happened the monitor was in use and then died. This occurred with 2 different computers. It is NOT the computers being hooked up. The HDMI port still works, but refresh rates suck at high resolution. I wish I could completely get my money back at this point.

The good? On average, the display is sharp and renders colors accurately. The bad? It's not bright enough if your room has windows and receives a fair amount of ambient light. It also doesn't work with Macintosh keyboard screen brightness controls, even though my previous LG monitor did. The Really Bad? Mine failed after only 11 months in service. I'm hoping for a quick reparir or replacement, so fingers crossed for a positive outcome...

I really want to love this monitor. It has a lot of utility and would be perfect for graphic production given the 40" size, 21:9 aspect ratio and pixel density. There is one major problem with it though. It is just not bright enough. 300 brightness level is just not enough for high end productivity. It needs to be at least 400-450 with better contrast (1000:1). I would love for it to have a refresh rate better than 72hz, but could probably live without it. I just can't see keeping this with subpar brightness and contrast for the money spent. It has so much potential, but sadly just falls short.

I bought this monitor 2 weeks ago, so far so good, love the screen real estate. Didn't love the price too much, but I thought I would treat myself by getting the largest 4K IPS panel made for productivity and content creation.

The ambient light sensor (ALS) min/max range cannot be adjusted... in a completely dark room it is still too bright for my eyes at 23% instead of let's say 5% that I prefer, thus allow us customize the min and max automatic brightness levels and then i will increase more stars :)

Love this monitor. Bought it about a month ago for my desk setup. I use a MBP 16 M1, and a single Thunderbolt cable (included) gets you going. No hassle at all. Easy to set up. Super crisp text at 1.5'. Height is adjustable, so I can use my MBP screen at the same time for maximum versatility and space. You can download a utility app that helps you dock windows in 1/2, 1/3, 1/6th of the screen. Downside: the only useful brightness level is 100%, especially if you have a modern laptop in front of it. It doesn't really bother me, but I don't have this right next to a bright window either. Note: a Thunderbolt to DisplayPort 1.4 gets you the same max framer ate, but with a variable rate to cut down graphics card use. If you aren't gaming, this is pretty much all the time.

I bought this monitor earlier this year and it had been great however lately I?ve been having trouble with image retention. This monitor is great when working correctly. it?s big has good resolution but again the image retention issue is a deal breaker, wish I could return for refund. This monitor is too expensive to have these issues.

While I enjoy the size and higher resolution of this display, the overall display quality seems average - lacking vibrance and brightness, especially in HDR modes. Expected more at this price point.

I do lots of work on spreadsheets and being able to see so many columns of data is amazing. I am also an astronomy photographer and often like to see several small photos at once. The HDR feature really helps the photos.

Bought this about 2 weeks ago. Super stable for me. I previously tried both HP and Dell widescreens (using the same panel). The USB hub on both of those was super flaky even after firmware updates. My mouse/keyboard and the inbuilt ethernet would auto disconnect randomly. Although, this monitor doesn't have in-built ethernet, but I connected a USB C ethernet dongle on thunderbolt out and it is super solid. Highly recommend this monitor over the Dell/HP variants if you have a Mac. Two features I'd love to have: 1. Inbuilt ethernet 2. USB B input and software-less KVM to switch USB to non-thunderbolt inputs

The monitor stopped functioning after 6 months and showed no images on the screen. Called LG and they sent a mailing label and I've yet to hear back on the return date (it has been a week).

Who makes a monitor at this price point and does not provide a driver for Windows? LG, that?s who. I suppose eventually they will get around to it but in the meantime this eye strain goes back into the box and back to the store. This is my last purchase of an LG product.

This monitor has changed my way of productivity in a good way. Two computers at once is awesome. Picture quality is good, sound is ok but it there if you don?t have external speakers. Bery happy

This is a great minimalist setup monitor for a programmer. I do agree with another review, the speaker on this is not a necessary feature for a monitor. The speakers don?t sound good so I?m surprised that it?s listed as a main feature. The base stand is awesome. I use a arm mount but even I can appreciate the design of the stand. I can?t see the difference over 65hz and this monitor satisfies that requirement. VESA mounting will be an issue for some because the screw hole area is at a level lower than the rest of the back. The brightness could be an issue but the max fine for me in a dark room. My ask for next iteration product would be to add risers for VESA mounting, a few more usbc tb4 ports and a brighter nit screen. Maybe even have an option to exclude the base stand. I?ve bought a lot of lg monitors over the years and I never use their stands long term. They?re not reusable when you upgrade too. I?ve been using the same arm for over a decade now. As great as the stand is for this particular monitor, I still prefer a fully adjustable arm. I?m actually considering buying another to chain but I?m sure 1 is more than enough for most.

Needs: more Hz for gamers (72 is on low side now) Gsync version Unnecessary expense: speakers (people have 5.1, 2 with more watts, or headphones)
