Owned less than six months, drive suddenly stopped physically allowing discs to be inserted. Removed one disc, tried to put in another, and cannot. tried with multiple discs.

We bought it on October 17th and on Decemeber 14th it stopped working.  I because it was still under warranty and it took 3 1/2 hours to get your company to finally agree to give me a refund. Can't even read the font of the statement below! I didn't receive the dvd writer for free, I paid $79.00 for it! I doubt you will post this!

Only two years and very low usage, this stopped working. It doesn't pull the cds in.

Stopped working after very few uses

Didn't work. I bought this to play DVDs on my iMAC and it didn't play them. Had to return it.

This review is for two CD drives that I've had since March of 2-23. The first one was purchased at Best Buy and it died after very little use. I tried to get it looked at by the Best Buy Geek Squad bet they would not help me one bit. 

I then contacted LG customer service and they sent me a return authorization right away. Once I returned it, they test it very quickly, diagnosed it as a failure and sent me a new CD drive and it arrived promptly.. I installed it right away and am delighted with the way it performs and I like it's compact size.

Great Customer Service

Since my new desktop Mac does not have an optical drive, I decided to add an external one for cd / dvd access.  Not everything is downloadable online.  
The device worked perfectly out of the box by attaching to one of the Mac ports, sipped is great and functionally working as designed.

Easy to set up on Mac

I bought this DVD drive to watch DVDs and to copy CDs.  Unfortunately it is not supported by Windows 10 and thus it useless for me.

Great space saver DVD

I bought this product in February 2022 it worked very well until July 2022. Worked with customer support unit was not responding. Customer service supposed to send me an email with a return address to send unit back for exchange. Still waiting.

Does not work with Mac Catalina.  Ate my disc, unable to eject.  Don't waste your money!

Piece of junk!

Nothing either on the outside packaging nor inside mentioned that this wasn't compatible with the most up to date Mac OS.  Confirmed by LG customer support when I had issues with running the firmware.  Had to return.

I bought this disk drive last night from BestBuy. It worked last night. Today, neither my iMac, Macbook Pro, ThinkPad, or MSI will detect when it is connected. To add to this, a disk is stuck in there and I cannot eject it no matter what I do.

I bought an LG Gram laptop which doesn't have an internal cd/dvd drive because that's what makes this type laptop so lightweight. I searched for an LG external drive and found this one that's also light, not to mention very compact. It doesn't have a tray, you just slide the disk in and it moves back out. I really like this feature. Quiet too. Really nice external drive, highly recommend.

It burns at half the max speed of my older drive, but it is sleek looking and very quiet. No vibration at all. I think the slower speed may make the data transfer more reliable and maybe the drive will last longer too. I was starting to wonder if it does CD's because the box only talks about DVD's, but yes it does CD's too.

This drive imports to Itunes fine but I cannot figure out how to transfer some songs without transferring the entire CD.

User manual useless

Eventhough the manufacturer says it is compatible with Windows 10 it is not.  You will get an Error Code 39 and neither LG or Microsoft can fix it.

Works

The computer will just stop seeing the drive in the middle of a read/write.  My wife likes to listen to audio books while driving.  Audible only lets you burn books to disk through iTunes which is a garbage piece of software in and of itself.  About a fourth of the time my Windows 10 based computers will stop recognizing this drive and you have to shutdown the computer and start the burn all over again from the beginning.  Audible will tell you with some basic math you can restart the burn after the last clean disk, but this has never worked for me.  iTunes will skip all over the place when you try to burn the book starting where you left off.  This is my second external LG drive (the other one is a different model and I've had the same problem with both drives using different computers (all running Windows 10).  Apple, LG, Audible, and the computer manufacturers all blame each other for the problem.

Was told it was IOS compatible. Customer service was horrible~ phoned with downloadable link failed. Support barely spoke english and after nearly 90mins of poor attempts to solve problem (35mins of that time was being placed on hold) I asked for a supervisor. Supervisor was not available. Support tech offered me a refurbished product in exchange for my newly purchased gear! Ummmm No thanks! Good riddance to this product. Returning it to Best Buy today!

I bought this external drive about a year ago and by far the best feature about this drive is it's silence. Loading and ejecting discs is noisy, although it only lasts for one and a half seconds. However when it's playing back or burning a disc it is a very nice to be able to do so without the need for a headset. I've used other ODD's over the years, internal and external and by far this one has brought me the best enjoyment. It's also very sleek and modern in it's appearance and the slot-load design is a plus. I'm actually looking online for a bluray version (hence the late review) but sadly I haven't found that they've made one. MAKE IT NAOW!

-But seriously, fantastic drive, very quiet operation, great design and slot-load; I couldn't ask for more in a DVD drive.

Silent and Elegant...

I purchased this about a year ago and at first it worked great.  Then I started watching DVDs from my local library or renting them from a place like Redbox.  Many times the player would just tell me that the disc was not supported which was extremely annoying since I had an older computer that was able to play it with with very few problems.  Then last night, I accidentally dropped the player and it did not work at all.  I had a disc inside and was completely unable to eject it.  When I went online, there was no user manual to help me trouble shoot.  Very unhappy with this external DVD player/writer and will not be buying another!

Worst External DVD Drive

I purchased this DVD Writer a few months back from Best Buy and it lasted about a week. I wasn't even able to burn a DVD before it broke. It is in my opinion a total piece of garbage and would probably be better suited as a paperweight or doorstop. I'm going to send it away for repair although I doubt what I'll receive back (Most likely a refurbished piece of garbage that'll last another week) will even warrant me upgrading this review. Now in the meantime I've been out a DVD writer for like a month and who knows how long repairs are going to take. All in all LG, I highly doubt I will be looking at any of your other electronic products in the future because my purchase has completely eroded any confidence I may have had in the quality of your products.
