No internal sd card funtion
Not a bad tablet. Biggest drawback is that you cant format the sd card to use as internal-storage and since the tablet comes with very little usable internal storage you fill it up with apps fast.

Good tablet
Overall good for media consumption. Needs a little more speed and an Android Upgrade to make it even better

Decent for price, no real issues, i use it for hours daily and it keeps up
This Tab is great at somethings and horrible at others. I am pretty sure this was set up to use for phone and text when i got it. Mine actually came from Metro, which is now metro by-TMobile. It was a promo and i paid $100 for it. As far as loading, navigating, and such, its been great, 2 major issues for me are:
Screen can be terribly dark at times, and the only microphone text import is with google. If it does apply to other apps, i havent found it. All and decent tab!

My son was given this tablet and used it mainly on educational things than all of a sudden the screen display light got dim, than next thing you know the whole screen was pitch black . I kid you not he only had the tablet for 2 months ! I then tried to find online solutions everything was mainly on replacing the WHOLE ENTIRE SCREEN ! More money and time consuming. I may have a defective tablet .

Great for Video Conferencing - Zoom
Purchased this tablet and was a bit put off that it only had 32GB memory, with only 10Gb available. So it is not a Computer, Then, What is it great at ... 1. Video Conferencing, 2. Online learning Home schooling, 3. Interface with My service Providers (Doctors), 4. Watching reruns. 5. YouTube, 6. Watching Sports, 7. 4G reception.

I love this tablet!
I purchased this for my wife and she was able to use it with a keyboard to make her job much easier. She hasn't needed it for the past couple weeks though so it's all entertainment device now and it's impressive! Great picture and battery life!!

Useless for games with external controllers.
Was excited to get this and use it as a gaming tablet and a WiFi HotSpot creator. However it can successfully create its own HotSpot it completely fails with connecting external devices such as controllers for games.
The device connects just fine to controllers however it doesn’t transmit any of the inputs?! Very disappointing!!!!

its worth it.
I like it. I may be slower due to older tech compared to the newest Samsung and Apple,2020.
That said, I just got messages today on it, I use Facebook messenger as almost everyone I know uses this app. It works just fine. What I did find out as I havent had this tablet more that 4 days, it has 4G LTE. one thing that i would say is that the speakers could be place better, they are not very loud.. I did research after my wife got this for me from T-Mobile on a special for 99$ . I didn't realize it sells for 330$. Wow good deal. Imo.
So date night iby the river n the yukon, with the Lg G pad 5 10.1 4g LTE Bluetoothed to a megaboom 3..
Best drive in movie around !

Good tablet
If you want to text just get a phone. The only negative reviews for this come from people complaining that it doesn't text. It's not supposed to. That's what a phone is for. Other than that it's a good tablet. Don't listen to other reviews.

No texting app
There is no texting app. But worse, can't even get a texting app that works with this tablet. This might be a very good tablet but it makes it a piece of junk worthless for me.

No text messaging
When I brought this tablet I was expecting that it will able to do this basic function of texting or calling which it can not. I called T-mobile asking and they wasn't sure if it had it or not. I was then transferred to an LG technician to help resolve this issue by downloading an app to allow me to text but it wasn't working. I wasn't able to add imo because I couldn't receive text to retrieve the code. So I give it a 1. As other customers mentioned the Tablet itself is great but If you are paying for a line you do expect to use it. Great size for gaming and watching movies on the go but unfortunately it's not the tablet for me. I got it in one day and shipped it back then next.

Can't download from other sources
No messaging, poor design and impossible to sideload any apk. I had a previous generation of this device and it caught on fire due to battery issues. I wouldn't go near any LG product again after this. Also good luck talking to LG support they're the worst and they will never call you back to help.

No text messaging
The other reviews are spot on. No text messaging, no ability to get text messaging. Otherwise the tablet is fine. However when I am paying tmobile for the line, I expect text messaging. LG should be able to fix this with a software update. If so I would change the review to 4 starts. Lots of bloatware or it would be 5.

I bought this tablet the one from tmobile today and I realize that it does not have any messages app. Hopefully LG can update that. besides that I think it has good resolution.

Why even bother?
Despite other reviewer's warnings, I purchased hoping I could outsmart the tablet like I had done years ago on my Nexus 7. I could not sideload an .APK for Messaging (I could download, just not install despite allowing 'install from unknown sources', and manually adding the APN for MMS and such did not work. This tablet straight up does not receive SMS, not even the carrier messages like "SIM Card Changed." That is unbelievably appalling, especially given T-Mobile sends texts letting you know when you're reaching your data limit, or when you've taken it to another country, they send "Welcome to Spain! You'll have xx data speeds while roaming and can contact xx for assistance while traveling" Pretty important to receive, even if you don't wish to allow sending SMS...
Even more incredible is how much storage the UI and preloaded apps take. Even after deleting what apps we could, ONLY 16gb of the 32 were usable. That is unbelievable. There wasn't even anything to the tablet that could justify the 16gb of bloat it ships with.

I loved my Gpad 8" several years ago and haven't found a tablet that can beat how enjoyable it is to use. I've love to get my hands on this one.
