This thing is snug with not much room for extras. Which is exactly what I wanted. It *just* fits a Canon XSi with the 18-55 kit and a filter on the lens. The pouches just held a couple of memory cards and the charger. I think I could fit something else alongside the lens in the main portion of the bag, but that's where I've stuffed the kit strap. I don't have or want to carry much stuff. This case is WHOLLY unsuited for my GF who brings at least two lenses and a dozen filters, her entire supply of memory cards, a charger and a battery grip on her XTi. So buy one for yourself to carry your lightweight setup, leaving your back to cart around your SO's warchest of gear.
