Used it for the first time as my airplane carry on with my Canon 7D, 24-105 lens mounted with hood, flash, MacBook and various accessories. In Hawaii used it on hikes to waterfalls and botanical gardens. It's construction and configuration are excellent. I would have liked to have a small outside zipper pocket for quick access to small items like a filter or cloth. There is a gripping material on the underside of the shoulder straps that I don't care for. I might try to cover that with something. The material on the back is rough enough to pull fibers from your shirt. The pack did make my back very hot as well but that may be true of all backpacks so I don't count that against the pack itself. All in all I am happy with it. I searched, purchased, returned and sold many backpacks during my search but this one is a keeper. Just don't think anyone makes the "perfect" backpack for my needs. So change the material on the undersides of the shoulder straps and the back, add that small outside zipper pocket and it really is a perfect 5 star product.

If like to arrange your gear in a logical order and need good protection then this bag is for you. Although a bit taller for my stature but it is very comfortable. Easy to carry on the plane and it is moisture protected. Which is always good when you are outdoor. I carry two DSLR, extra lenses and flash comforably without the heft. Also, the laptop section is good for my 17 incher. The top portion is for all sort of goodies. Very good product for the price point.

I bought this before our Mexico trip September 2012. It fit everything I needed and was great as a carry on. It fit above and below under the seat in front of me on my flights. It can get a little heavy if you tend to over pack like I do sometimes. But there is plenty of room for your camera gear and computer along with personal items. I haven't packed my tripod on it but did pack my mono pod and it was great. I only use this when traveling, I find it kind of big for everyday use. But I feel that everything is very secure and protected during my travels.

Great product overall. There a two pulls on each zipper line on the 2 main compartments (top and bottom). The only problem I've had so far is that one of the zippers on the top inside compartment came apart when I pulled slightly up on it (inside zippers not as well constructed)-> recommend being gently with inside zippers and not to overstuff this compartment (this happened when the backpack was practically brand new). The outside main zippers are very durable and handle rough handling/tugging well (pack my bottom compartment pretty tight- see below). Good news is that I called Lowepro and they will repair/replace my backpack once I send it in-> seem to have great customer service. The bottom compartment can be a bit tought to zip up, but I do have it stuffed with a Canon 7D with a Canon 100-400 mm L lens attached, a Canon Xsi with a Canon 17-55 f/2.8 mm lens attached, a Canon 100 mm f/2.8 lens, and a Giottos Rocket Air Blaster (really excited that I can carry 2 camera bodies on hikes and not have to swap out lenses). It also fits my 17 inch HP dv9000 laptop well, but did notice that there was some minor damage to the plastic upper and lower corners of my laptop (may have been compressed too much when I tried to squeeze it under my Southwest Airlines airplane seat. My bag even got knocked off a table onto a minimally carpeted floor with all my gear inside (about a 3 ft drop) and all my gear appears to be undamaged (will never place on a table again). I also hike outdoors often with my backpack and it has been comfortable with all my gear (even with a 17 inch laptop onboard- forgot to remove it and ended up hiking about 8 miles up and down the Huachuca Mountains in AZ). It has easily adjustable straps that really help with fit/comfort (especially like the ones that come off the upper shoulder). I haven't tested its water repellency in a downpour, but it shouldn't be an issue since it has a rainfly. It seems to repel water just fine in a light rain.

I upgraded to this backpack from the Rover II AWS, it is bulkier but also fits the equipment easier, the padding on the back feels more comofrtable. The top compartment fits all the accessories you would need for a trip or a lunch for the day.

I'll be able to keep all my gear safe and at hand. This will be going around the world soon.

Solid pack. The price seems high, until you feel the weight of a laptop, camera, lenses, and all of the necessary accessories and tripod, then you realize how strong of a pack you need. This usnit is very comfortable and has all of the features you need.

I carry a Ditigal Camera (3) Lenses, 17" Laptop with accessories and personal gear on weekly commute to the Bahamas Islands. Great carry-on bag. Only problem I have is that I tend to over load the bag.

A great carry on bag. Fits all my camera gear and laptop, plenty of room.
Hiking around town or out in the country, this versatile backpack carries lots of photo equipment, a notebook computer, digital accessories and personal gear. But capacity alone is not what makes the CompuRover AW so amazing. It's packed with features that every digital photographer will appreciate.
