Comparing the 8M with the Lowe Pro case I already had, it became clear that the earlier-acquired one is the almost identical but slightly smaller 8S. For the Canon S450, S550, S630, S700, and presumably the new S800 and S900, the 8S will be a snugger and trimmer fit. Save for size, the two cases look almost identical.

This well-made, well-padded case with a quiet nylon zipper carries my Canon S410 plus the essential extra lithium battery securely, including the wrist strap. It's cheap, stylish protection for an expensive pocket digital camera. The wide velcro'd belt loop allows it to be put on and off without unhooking one's belt. I'm buying a SECOND one for the Canon SD700 I'm ordering!
