I have only taken this out a couple of times but it has served me well. Often my DSLR sits in my camera case and winds up being difficult to pull out quickly. The zippered access panel that opens up for the DSLR storage compartment is very easy to access with the bag swung to the front on one strap. The top half of the pack is designed for non photographic items- not padded or divided. The one issue I have experienced is overfilling that part of the pack and having the zipper work its way open while I was walking. I now just keep the zipper tabs pulled off to the side and not up top where leverage can work on opening a gap and possibly losing your items. I pack a Canon 7D with a 10-22mm, 17-55, batteries, compact flash cards, x-rite passport, and expo-disc in the bottom compartment. I wound up putting extra lenses and my flash in the top compartment. I would rather the top of the pack were padded for equipment, but feel this will be a good balance of travelling with a light camera kit while having good mobility for active use.

This is a great backpack. Very confortable and have easy access the camera without taking it off. Lots of space. Contruction is very strong and is water resistant. I took it to Disney and carried all day and was very confortable. Is a great size too. I was able to put my camera and lenses, video camera, manuals, GPS and had lots of space left. Not too big, not too small. The only thing that is missing is a tripod harness.
