Have had a divided back pack but never had enough room for long lense. This one works great for my long lense with camera attached (Nikon 70-200 f/2.8), extra camera, two extra lenses (wide zoom, macro) , extension tubes, teleextender, filters, charger, release, etc. Physial condition prevents me from treking for long distances, and I usually carry this bag by the handle and walk short distances (up to a mile) with everything I need. I am 6'1" and the pack fits ok when on my back but the waist strap is a little high. Don't care for the tripod attachment strings as they are always in the way. I carry monopod and use it as a walking staff.

The pack is great for the price! I would have liked a cover over the main zipper to protect your equipment against moisture seeping in. (It is an all-weather backpack)

If you're looking for space, with portability, this bag has it. Mine fits my F100 w/MB-15, 4 lenses,speedlight,remote, a Kowa Six w/85mm attached,light meter,cable release,plenty of film and all the other small odds and ends if I need it all. As others have said, the hip belt rides to high up on taller people (I'm 6')to be of much use to me. The straps seem to be comfy and the sternum strap helps hold it all snug. As nice as it is to have,the weatherproofing makes it slow to get to the zippers sometimes, and the tripod riding on back slows you down getting into it as well. But all in all, I wouldn't hesitate abit to recommend this to anyone looking for a good sturdy pack for travel or day hikes.

The backpack is very well built and will hold my gear very well. The design is extremely good. The fatal flaw (for me) is that it does not fit my body size. While, I am only 5'9", I am somewhat long waisted. In order to adjust the waist band to ride properly on my hips, the shoulder straps barely cover my shoulders. For only that reason, I'm going to return the backpack if my 5' wife doesn't want it.

I've had this for two years and it has held up well under heavy use. The zippers and straps still work like new and the interior adjusts easily when you change equipment. I would highly recommend this pack to anyone. If it ever wears out I'll buy another.

Let's get the bad out of the way first. If shorter than about six feet, I would say the waist straps wouldn't be a problem. However, taller photographers will have issues with the waist straps riding too high. Coming from a 6'4" guy, the buckle for the straps runs right above my navel. Since waist straps are supposed to aid the back and shoulders by shunting support to the hips, having them hug your stomach doesn't help too much. The tripod bungees are annoying if only because the tripod must be detached to get into the bag. Using the bag and gaining an acceptance for this quirk makes it less of an issue. Attaching the tripod at such a great distance from the shoulders also gives heavier tripods a great mechanical advantage, which is quite burdensome to the shoulders after a few hours of hiking. On with the good. Very spacious interior. My general purpose setup includes a 20D w/ grip, 70-200mm f/2.8 w/ hood, 100mm macro w/ hood, 17-40mm w/ hood, and 50mm, with space to spare for an Angle Finder or something of similar size. And that's just the main compartment, not including the many zip-up compartments. Lots of Velcro dividers for customization. Its rugged construction has survived well over 100 miles of hiking and over 16,000 miles of road trip. From hiking desert to navigating waterfalls to scaling mountains, this backpack handles it all. I would say the bag is lightweight but durable. It's definitely wearable and bearable for hikes about 12 miles in length. After 15 miles or so it gets pretty tiring, and by 18 miles you might think it's trying to kill you, but any bag would be at that point. While the exterior lacks a water pocket, my solution is hooking a carabiner to the lower part of the shoulder strap, then hooking Nalgene bottles to the carabiner; I've handled over four liters of water with this setup. Though there are small things I'd like to change, overall I'm very happy with the product.
