Shopper : Are the side pouches removable?GILBERT F : Yes they areTAMMY G : Yes, the side pockets are removable. They are attached by a belt-loop type system with a wide, almost full-length "strap," the bottom half or more of which is full-width, heavy duty Velcro. I'm glad you asked, because I had never actually checked out the attachment system (it obviously works very well and is not obvious at all). I've used several bags over time, and this is, without a doubt, my very favorite. Lowepro gets many kudos from me for thinking outside the box when it comes to designing this bag.RICHARD W : Yes they are removable, that is why I bought it. I replaced one of the side tubes for a larger one to accommodate a 400mm lensMITCH B : Yes, and I even put a larger pouch on one side to accommodate a bigger lensFORREST A : Yes, the visible straps keep the pouches from flopping around. They are mounted with a velcro flap that is slipped through a horizonal strap that is sewed to main case. They can be mounted to a belt also.KATHIE B : Ours are removable. It is very nice and holds 2cameras (one small) and 3-4 lenses. It is too big for casual travel but awesome when you want to have all the equipment

The perfect bag! But...

I was looking for a bag that would make me feel comfortable without having to leave my equipment at home (or in the main bag) when shooting events or walking around without an assistant. For this, I mostly use a canon 5D Mark III, 70-200 2.8, 16-35 2.8, 600ex speedlite and GaryFong collapsible diffuser. I tried a couple modular and sling bags, but all stuff wouldn't get in, so I had to carry some things in my hands. Additionally, didn't liked the feel of the straps around my neck. With this belt pack, I can carry everything I need, and ready to shot. Camera fits perfectly with the 70-200 on, even with the battery grip on! It's hard to find a bag that supports carrying the camera with batt grip on. Another good thing is that side bags are removable, so it becomes as big as you need it, and has plenty of straps to tie something else you may need to carry. The only bad thing is that in those side bags neither the 70-200 or the 16-35 fits with the reversed hood on them, but you can carry the hoods somewhere else. There's plenty of room! If you feel comfortable with belt packs, this is the perfect one to carry everything with you wherever you go.
