Another Messenger Bag Returned
This was my 2nd attempt at a messenger bag and the 2nd one I returned. I really wanted to like this bag and in particular this style of bag. It's good looking, well made, comfortable and of course it doesn't look like a camera bag. It's big enough to hold all the gear I wanted versa my first one the Think Tank Retrospective 20. My problem with both is everything is hard to remove and then replace. The dividers are not stiff enough so they collapse and/or fold in the middle, causing everything of any weight to bulge into the next compartment and shift everything toward the center of the bag while making it balky. There are plenty of compartments, but when you use one, it takes up room in the next one for the same reasons. When removing the camera with a lens and the hood attached backwards, the hood tends to get held in by the pressure on it from what's in the compartment next to it. When placing the camera and lens back in the bag, you have to again force it pass the bulging dividers. Trying to remove an extra lens from the bottom of the bag with the hood attached is the same problem. If you're not careful, you'll bring out something you don't want and it possibly going to the ground. I found the only thing I could safely remove without having to put the bag down was the camera. I also found it very hard to see what and where the equipment was in the bag because of the flaps on the sides to keep weather out and how the dividers bend over at their tops. I watched all the videos seeing people walking around just whipping things in and out of the bag at ease,,,, and wondering how??? I just can't get them to work for me. Well I guess it's back to my "Old War Horses" the Lowepro Magnum 200 and 400.
