Questions & Answers

GERARD G : Is this big enough to fit a canon 40D with a 28-135 lens?JUDITH Z : I have a Nikon 7000 and have no problem with it fitting with a 18-200 lens attached. Love this bag.BARRETT T : It comfortably fits my Nikon D90 with 18-135 lens attached, with remaining space in the main compartment for an external flash and a second prime lens as well. The D90 is the larger-sized DX format body and I estimate the Canon 40D to be approximately the same. I think you'll have no problems fitting it in here.William W : I have a 7D with its attached 18-135 lens which fits within the area no problem.MATT O : Yes, but save your money and get the 302. You'll out grown this fast.JEFF D : Yes. It is. I have even been able to get my Canon 6D with 70-200 f4 L lens attached in there (with a little stretching). You should have no problem with the 28-135 lens.STEPHEN I : By all means as I use my 50 D with comparable lens and 2 additional lenses.Christopher V : I don't know how big a Canon 40D is. However, I have used various Nikon products and can say this: it is fine for a smaller DSLR with a smaller lens plus enough room for one lens in a pouch. The zippered smaller area at the top is suitable for cleaning supplies, extra memory cards and a small flashlight or other odd items. It is fit for a smaller torso (I am 6 ft and it is too small for my needs). If the camera referred to is a moderate or larger size DSLR and you plan to use more than two lenses, I recommend at least one or two steps up in sizing. I use a 200 series (about 4 years old)...and it is fine for a full frame DSLR with moderate telephoto and one additional lens. That's it. Hope that helps. I will say that the manufacturing quality is excellent in both models of this pack that I have owned.
Shopper : Looking at the Lowepro SlingShot 102 AW - One review says that an Olympus OM_D would not fit, yet I see a much larger camera in the photos. Does a OM-D E-M1 fit? Thanks, RobJUDITH Z : I have a Nikon D90 and a D7000. Either one of them fit with a lens and at least 2 other lenses. Great, convenient bag!ALFREDO F : SLINGSHOT 102 AW INTERIOR CAMERA COMPARTMENT: 6.3W x 4.3D x 10.2H in. 16 x 11 x 26 cm EXTERIOR: 8.3W x 8.7D x 15.9H in. 21 x 22 x 40.5 cm FITS: DSLR (without grip) up to Nikon® D90 or Canon® 5D with attached standard zoom lens; 1-2 lenses or flash units and accessories; compact tripod; personal items.ANDREW C : Unfortunately, I haven't had opportunity to try the Olympus OM-D in the bag, but I can tell you that a Nikon D7000 with a battery grip fits just fine, if that is a helpful comparison.LES S : My Panasonic G1 fits easily and the EM1 is only a little larger. The G1 with a 45-200 attached is about the limit for depth. Even adding a 16mm extension tube is noticeable. The 45-200 is the longest lens that would fit in the lens pocket. I don't think the 75-300 or 100-300 would fit. I leave a QR plate on the G1 with no problem, but that big hump on the OMD-EM5 might be more of a concern. The bag does relax over time. It was a little more restricted when brand new. If I decided to get an EM1 or EM5, this is the bag I'd be using. It's intended for dslr's.WARREN H : I have one. My Nikon D7000 with a 18-200 zoom fits with no problem. Instead of that I use a sling-bag style, as it holds everything I need for most excursions and it is more comfortable.DAVID A : Hi, I am only familiar with Sony gear. My a850 and a99 cameras are pretty big, full frame ones. I could fit one of them in the bag, but I have have to take off the lens or only have a shorter one attached. I now use it to just carry extra lenses, filters, batteries, etc. So bottom line, I think any camera could fit... what matters is what lens is attached.
Shopper : Will this bag fit a Nikon d7100 with 18-300 attached?MATT O : Yes. If you like this bag I would go for the bigger one. I out grew it very quickly.COLIN S : Yes the Nikon d7100 and 18-300 will fit. My slingshot fits a d300 with grip and Nikon 18-200 lens easilyRICHARD S : Only way if that's all you have in compartment and take out wall dividers. Eliminates the function of carryall.ANDREW C : Should be fine. As a reference point, I can just barely fit my D7000 with the 70-300 attached, but that lens is about an inch longer than the 18-300.Christopher V : My wife uses this bag with her D5100 and 55-200mm lens with no issues; offering plenty of additional room for one more lens. I perceive the D7100 to be slightly larger but suspect there should be enough room for that camera and larger lens.WALTER L : I have a D600 with a 28-300, Really Rightstuff L bracket, Blackrapid strap and it is very tight. My eye piece keot getting knocked off as i put it in and out of the bag. I purchase a Tamrac Evolution 6 that fits great.

Nice Quality Camera Bag

Works great for quick and safe access to the camera and optional lenses. The other compartments are OK... but could be a bit better designed for more useful storage. The top storage area doesn't seem to have a plan. And the one pocket is pretty small. But overall, LowePro products are constructed well and this one is no exception. Great bag for a light gear photo-shoot.

Easy access, easy to use.

Photo backpacks-comfortable but hard to get to gear. Shoulder bags-not so comfortable and get in the way. Sling bag-good compromise. Easy access to gear and easy to keep out of the way. Not as comfortable as a backpack. I carry a Panasonic G6 micro 4/3rds body, 14-140 lens with hood,20mm lens, Canon S120, Metz 26 AF-1 flash spare batteries, 2 memory cards, Black Rapid shoulder strap, and Peak Design camera clip. I have room left for a 100-300mm zoom lens, cell phone, and snacks. Nothing is crammed in and every item is within easy reach, but secure in the pack. I honestly didn't think I would like a sling style pack, but it is very easy swing it to my front, get what I need, and swing it back. My gear is not very heavy, so weight is not much of an issue until I add a waterbottle and/or a tripod. This pack is very small, but well thought out. The side strap holds a small tripod, or you can attach a waterbottle holder. I have managed to get both on, but the pack is not well balanced with that much weight on one side. The main drawback is the shoulder strap-it can only be worn over the right shoulder. It would be nice to be able to switch from right to left.

Excellent for 1 camera and 1 lens

I love this bag for the great sling strap when hiking and traveling . Rides really well , the only problem I faced was carrying my 70-200. To carry it I need to put the camera around my neck which can throw me off balance on some trails. I think for me the 201 will be better. It took me a bit of trial and error to learn how to get into the sling properly ( both arms in and over my head ) and then put my camera around my neck. Lowe pro has high quality construction and the only brand I buy now.

Light and compact

This is great alternative to my other big camera bag for a quick day trip. It will force you to bring only what you need, maybe an extra lens and some filters. It will not weight you down. I do not give it 5* because it seems to work best on the left shoulder, due to its bottom "flapper" that doesn't work too well if you use it on the right shoulder...

Well made, but...

Went to Lowepro site for a camera size check, but this is way too small for a Pentax K-3 with extra battery. Worse is the total lack of use instructions. If I am using it like the "quick draw" video suggests, it is too easy to spill the extra lenses that I want to carry. I'll stick with my two strap backpack. Babes don't run away that fast! I have some other Lowpro bags that I like much better. Going back.

Good concept but very painful to wear

I bought this just in time for trip to Italy. I have a rebel SLR, zoom lens, and a wide-angle lens All of which fits snugly in this pack. Unfortunately I dreaded wearing this backpack there because I find one shoulder straps are often too painful to carry around. I think that's more a function of all of these one shoulder backpacks rather then to shoulder backpacks. I'm not even that much of a wuss either because I routinely work out and lift weights. There is ample space for me to place filters, spare batteries and other carry along items which is useful. Unfortunately I don't think I would use this backpack again and therefore I ended up returning it.

Beautifully Made but Too Small

Nice concept, but too small for my Olympus OM-D and two lenses. Adorama handled my return quickly and fairly.

A size too small, otherwise a good bag

Originally I ordered the 102AW thinking that it will be sufficient to hold a Canon 6D with 24-105L attached, 85/LII, 17-40/L, and 580EX, just like my other similarly-size generic sling bag. Well, it doesn't. I then ordered the 202AW and the gears fit that bag perfectly. Construction for the Lowepro bags are top notch so if you can live with just one additional lens in the bag then the 102AW would be a good choice, otherwise buy the 202AW instead.

Great Bag

Just went to Disney and surrounding area for two weeks and this bag was great. I was able to tote around my gear with no problems. I put a Nikon D3100 w/ 18-55mm lens in it along with a 55-300mm lens. When the 55-300 was attached to the body it was difficult to put the camera in lens first, but it did fit well horizontally in the bag.

Like it so far

I just got it but I think I like it so far. It is just a tad small. I wish there was another pocket or some space somewhere for another lens or more space to put cleaning accessories so I have room for another lens.

Goldilocks says "this one is too small"

Maybe not too small if you have a smaller body SLR. I bought the Lowepro SlingShot 202 AW last year for the same price. When I saw this product I didn't notice that it was the smaller size. The quality and design of the product is superior. I like my bigger bag for my Canon 5D Mark II and lenses. However this bag is a good size for my Nikon DX model cameras and it might just be what I needed after all. It is a great product at a great price. Maybe after some time in the field Goldilocks will upgrade to "this one is just right"

Great Product

This innovative product is a step forward in being utilitarian, not one that just sits around the house. The bag is out of the way when not needed and carries my essentials for easy access. Overall, it is a great idea.

It looked bigger in the ad photos but for the price it seems to be well made and I'll use it when there is only a bit of gear to lug around.

Handy Pack

I use this to transport my D800 camera with 24-70mm 2.8 lens attached plus my sb-910 flash unit. It's a bit tight but makes for a convenient way of transporting my gear for events.

Slingshot 102 AW

The strap that should go around middle is very poorly designed making the pack virtually useless as advertised. I resorted to just using as an over one shoulder storage bag. That of course requires constant adjustment and is uncomfortable. Would have been better to buy a regular back pack and store camera in a padded bag inside of it.

Weather Cover: Another Use!

Just thought of another perfect use for the weather cover: Security! A tourist returning from France told me that while in a crowded subway train, his wallet was stolen from his zippered inside pocket of his jacket without him knowing it. Then the thought occurred how easy it would be for a thief to unzip my pack while it slingshots on my back. A solution to this is to use the weather cover on the pack and to cover it all. At least it would be more challenging for the thief to take my cameras or perhaps he might want to find an easier target.

Great "Day" bag

Great bag for a small DSLR with 1 or 2 lenses. top compartment and outside pocket are big enough for a couple filters, spare batteries, etc. Bag has great features like storage for media cards, a built in lens cloth, and rain cover. Tripod holder will not fit medium to large tripods (only small, compact tripods).

Comfortable and Reliable

I don't think you can have just one camera bag and this one fits a definite niche. It is great for travel and is comfortable. Love that it has a weather cover which actually helps shed the rain. Have used it on trip to San Francisco, Seattle and Washington DC and find that it is a good travel case. Be careful when unzipping if you have loose items in the main compartment as things could slip out.
