Questions & Answers

Shopper : Is this soft box compatible with any flash and any camera model?DAVID R : I would say the mounting is compatible with any "speedlight" hot shoe style flash that mounts on a camera. The next issue is how will the flash be fired? You will need an on-camera sender and flash-mounted receiver to fire any flash off camera...unless a cord is used. There are a number of sender/receiver options on the market.JOE F : It is compatible with all 3 of my Canon flashes. I assume it would be compatible with other flashes and camera. You need to know though that because of its size, and because it covers most flash sensors, it is difficult to rely on the automatic flash settings and the interface between the flash and the camera.JARED H : It attaches with sticky Velcro and and adjustable straps so it can fit to any model flash. This would only be used for off camera flash so yes, it would for for any camera.
NANCY S : If I mount my canon 580 flash on a tripod, will it hold the softbox up?EMILY R : I honestly can't remember exactly why, but I returned it. I think it was the fact that I just didn't like the way it mounted.PAUL M : Yes.EDWARD M : The same as if it is on your camera. Tends to sag.WES H : if the tripod is designed to hold the weight of the tripod, it will work. I can offer you a used LTp if you are looking for a deal. just search wham photography for my contact info.JIM S : yesCHARLES W : No problem ... it's very light ... FYIRANDY M : Yes it can. The LTP is pretty light and I mount it all the time on a light stand.ADAM S : Yes, the mod is not terribly heavy. As long as the flash is sufficiently supported (e.g. on a tripod or even a flash stand), it should support the softbox.JARED H : Yes, it stays up on my SB910s with a slight amount of droop (maybe like an inch) and works well.HOPE M : The LTp is connected to your flash. If the connection is stable between the flash and the LPt then yes it will stay up. One word of warning though. Be careful not to let the softbox get too hot or it may wilt a bit.EMERY W : Yes, it's very lightweight.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?TOM K : I am a newspaper photographer. I don't always have time to set up lights. With a cord attached to the camera and the light box attached to my SB900 I get nice portraits with a minimum of labor.STEPHEN T : I do a lot of travel photography, especially portraits of people in developing countries. The softbox folds flat for travel and quickly mounts on the flash head. Perfect size for close up work. I plan to purchase a second.FRANK V : To help soften the specular light created by speedlights.WES H : best item next to a studio strobe and softbox.

It works as advertised.

It's a bit larger than its little brother, so it's a bit more effective. I wouldn't describe it as a softbox for off-camera use. It's quite useful on the camera.

easy modifier

Kinda big, but that actually helps. Can be unwieldy but close in the light is great.

Works as advertised. Nice light.

I use it mainly for fill or key for portraits. It's fairly nice light for a speedlight. It is a bit bulky and I wonder about the weight on the speedlight. A bit tricky to aim and reposition due to bulk and the fact it sags off the speedlight head.

Great for portability

This is great for getting Softbox Like light into areas you cant fit a softbox. Also, if you have a camera bag with a laptop compartment, this folds up and fits easily in there. You need a velcro speed strap to use it of course, but its something you can easily cary with you just incase you need it.

Softbox for off-camera flash

I lost the smaller version of softbox so I decided it was time to reorder and get a larger size. It's simple to put on and does a great job of diffusing the light -- but can make the flash a little top heavy.

Great Light Mod

I love the light quality I get from this modifier. I have found that you must use the Lumiquest velcro band. My Honl Photo velcro bands don't work as well as I expected. I've also learned to mount it with the velcro securing strip on the top as that seems to keep if from flopping around. Like many mods, it's tough if you're outside and wind comes up. As you would expect, the further away from the subject, the harder the light becomes so if you want soft light, get it in close and adjust from there.

Makes small flash head 'look' like a medium sized light source. 4 stars!

After attending the Adorama Flashbus photo tour, I had to have one of these. Actually purchased 2 LTp. Works well with the Ultra strap. Softens light, but it doesn't produce 'magic' photos like at the Flashbus workshop. You have to work with this product to make it work. When attaching to the Canon 580 EXII its best to light in full manual mode. can use with dome diffuser for that extra soft light. Must be in close to subject. Makes small flash head 'look' like a medium sized light source. 4 stars!

Pretty Good Little Speedlight Softbox

It is what it is, it does what it does. Easy to setup. Easy to keep in a bag or laptop case. Way better than bare speedlight when you want a softer light quality. Acts just like a mini softbox. Good value for the $.

Lumiquest LTp 10 X 14

Bought this after seeing Joe Mcnally on the Flashbus tour. It took a little getting used to, and remembering it in the bag when out and about. I don't find myself using it a lot in studio, primarily due to using strobes, but I do like having it when on location.

trapper keeper??

Not what I expected. Reminds me of my middle school trapper keeper. Same cardboard wrapped in plastic type material. I am afraid it will start coming apart after some use. Time will tell i guess...

The SoftBox LTp has surface area over 40 times that of the flash itself producing the softest shadows of any LumiQuest SoftBox. The LTp is designed exclusively for off-camera use. Application: For those who have a laptop pocket in their camera bag/backpack and wish to use this feature to conveniently carry a larger SoftBox with over 120 sq. in. of surface area.
