The 4K difference
This new 4K resolution camera records 4x the amount of pixels as compared to a 1080p security camera. This means that while a 1080p camera records at a pixel ratio of 1920 x 1080 (2,073,600 pixels), this 4K security camera records at a pixel ratio of 3840 x 2160 (8,294,400 pixels). This translates into much better quality video, especially when you need to digitally zoom in on particular details such as facial features or license plate digits. This is because there are simply more pixels available, so details will remain legible for longer as the digital zoom is applied.
