Questions & Answers

MIGUEL L : Curious about the 15" vs the 24" EZBoxes for Speedlights in terms of coverage, light quality When would you decide to use one vs the other -- single portraits, groups, products, etc. I have the 24" wondering when the 15" might be more appropriate -- apart from Field use vs Studio, how are you guys deciding which size to use?BILL W : I use this for a single person head and shoulder shotBETSY S : I usually try to use the biggest box that I can. If it is very windy or don't have anyone to help I will use a smaller box since it is easier to manage.REZA M : The 15" is a smaller source than the 24", therefore a more contrasty, less soft light source is produced with the 15" when at equal distance and flash duration. The 24" provides that soft caressing wrapping light. It really depends on the look you're trying to achieve and of course the subject. I use both of these for a single subject portrait. A soft box would not be appropriate in my opinion for any group shot. I would use a large umbrella but mostly, one of Lastolite Skylites with two or three speedlights, like this one: <a href="http://www.adorama.com/lslr81221r.html?RRref=productPage" target="_blank">http://www.adorama.com/lslr81221r.html?RRref=productPage</a> Hope that info helps. Good luck.DIANE P : The 24" give good coverage especially for a tight portrait and possibly coverage for two people. The 15" is a tighter range, still good for a single portrait. Further away it will only cover a certain area, which still can be a nicer feathering of the light, closer is softer and probably a bit more contrast. I've the smaller on a one of those single handle wands when shooting events, and the light and coverage is great. Even if I'm shooting a tight group of three people or more, light box at one side to feather over their faces - works marvelous. You have a nice punch of light, rather than shooting with available light. I've also used the smaller light box for quick location shoots at restaurants for food & beverage. Side lighting or back lighting with light close to the subject - works nicely. Shooting portraits on location either size is super. I'm always amazed at my results with these light boxes with speedlights. Hope this give you some answers.
Heather O : Will the Mark II bracket fit on a stand, and work with SB-600s?PHIL M : Heather , I have the 24x24 ezybox ,I have it on a stand use the adj unbrella unit with A double ended barell unit. I use the sb 900 and the sb800 so see no reason the 600 would not work ,.J J : I do not know. I use a Canon and have not experienced the use of a Nikon.STEVE H : Heather, I have used my Lastolite 24 x 24 Ezybox on a light stand and a portable boom. I use it with my SB 700, or SB 800 or SB 900 speedlights. I do not own a SB 600 any longer, but it should work fine, although you may need to extend the small speed light into the light box with a snoot. The SB 900 is a larger unit, and fits nicely into the light box. -SteveGREG S : It should, the 24" one does.GERALDINE J : Yes, the bracket fits on a stand. I use mine with an umbrella holder/adaptor and then I can tilt the hot box as well. I use it with my sb800 and I am sure it will work with the sb600's. Not sure how the sb600 is as far as ttl. I have two sb800's and I have used one on camera as a master and the one in the softbox as a remote to fire. I can also use my on camera flash as the master with zero output and fire the remote in the softbox that way too. If you are far away, you would have to use pocket wizards to fire it though....close is not a problem and I found that it fired excellent, as long as I stood behind the remote...if I stood in front of the remote using Nikon CLS, then it has a problem. You can also adjust the flash in the softbox on the mount for better placement for infrared reading by the master. Hope that helps.RONALD M : I use my Lastolite Ezybox and Mark II Bracket with a 580 EXII Flash. The form factor is relatively the same as the SB-600. What you will need is the Manfrotto Swivel <a href="http://www.adorama.com/BG2905.html" target="_blank">http://www.adorama.com/BG2905.html</a> on your stand and will be good to go. Hope you enjoy the EzyBox, the light from it is amazing..ANGELA G : Yes

Nice!

The 15x15" Ezybox Hot Shoe Softbox Kit with the innovative Mark II Bracket (LL LS2414) is expertly designed to transform your battery-operated flash gun from a harsh, directional light into a softer, more diffused light source. This kit is available in three versatile sizes - 15" x 15", 21" x 21", and 30" x 30", catering to a variety of photography needs.

The Ezybox Hotshoe is designed for convenience and portability, folding flat for effortless storage and quick assembly in just minutes. This kit is compatible with a wide range of accessories, including extending handles, a tilthead bracket, creative diffusers, and a robust clamp with a brass spigot, allowing for a high degree of customization to suit your specific requirements.

The Mark II Bracket, a standout feature of this kit, is constructed from Delrin, a durable Nylon derivative. This material is designed to flex rather than bend, ensuring longevity and reliability. The bracket features a rectangular hole, matching the shape of a tilt-head flash, providing a secure fit and optimal functionality.

This kit is compatible with the Nikon SB900 flash and can also accommodate handle mount flash with optional mount plates for Metz 76, Metz 45, and Quantum flashes. In addition, it can accept optional studio type accessories such as beauty dishes, snoots, and reflectors, which were released in late 2009.

In summary, the 15x15" Ezybox Hot Shoe Softbox Kit with Mark II Bracket is a versatile, durable, and user-friendly solution for photographers seeking to enhance their lighting setup and achieve professional-quality results.
