FLASH UNITS ARE PRICED RIGHT

FLASH UNITS ARE PRICED RIGHT. HOWERVER I'M NOT HAVING ANY LUCK WITH UNITS SYNCHRONIZING WITH BUILD IN FLASH OF NIKON D90. MY INTEND WAS TO USE ONE FOR A FILL IN LIGHT AND SECOUND FOR THE BACKGROUND . I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO TO CORRECT THIS.READING NIKON USER MANUAL DOES NOT HELP ME. NIKON HAS ALL KINDS OF FLASH UNITS AND THEY ARE TRYINGTO SELL THEIR PRODUCT.

Used like stobes, very nice results

I have six of these on a total of two light stands and use them like stobes and fire them with pc cord. Works great, looks like I used expensive stobes. Buy stobes if you have the money, but if this is a hobby and money is a factor, these will do the trick. Not for rapid shots, but they work for a shot every ten sec's. So far I have great results with all Adorama named products, I hope they keep putting out great priced, quality items for the money challenged. They only have one light output, so you will have to figure your settings manually, so be prepared to take it off the green square.

Studio Flash

I use these in a dual light setup (umbrella reflectors) with continuous output 5300K lights. They give the extra "pop" that portraits need and even out shadows. I've seen similar strobes for 4X the price but these do the job just fine. When used as a slave the sensor is sensitive enough even if the master unit is a good distance away.

Perfect for that extra bit of light

These strobes are great to fill in lighting situations. Although not adjustable, for the price thet are very handy to have on hand at a shoot.

Great for the price

I am a serious DIYer and use these for everything. They are versatile since there are so many varieties of light sockets available for custom made lighting. I group these together if I need more output such as a main light. I also started modifying them slightly to include a push button on/off for the optical slave (see photo) which makes reconfiguring them much easier and no need to discharge them if they are charged and you don't want them firing on the next shot. It would be nice if this feature was built-in, but it's really simple to DIY.

Not what is shown online

All the technical details aside, the product is shown as black and I received the bulbs in white. I did not get what I was expecting. Yes, they work. I have not had a chance to use them properly yet[...]

Excellent Value

I ordered the AC socket (LTSKE) the Background Lite Stand (LTSB) and the Filter Set (LTACF) with the Master/Slave (LTACMS) and am very pleased with the set-up. I use the light for fill lighting or add filters to change background colors.

Great Light for Bargain Price

A great light with strong, consistent output for a bargain price. I bought this for use as a backlight, and it works very well in that capacity. The small size makes it easier to hide behind a subject. It is a bit trickier to modify, and I wish it had a variable output, but I knew it didn't going in--for that price I certainly didn't expect it. With a little DIY ingenuity, it's no problem.

Cant Be Beat for the Price

I use this flash for fill lights and on the background, I also spot them down to a pin point light on product shots

Very nice light for cheap

I've been using these for product shots and portraits of the kids. They have strong output, and because they screw into A/C sockets you can do some interesting things (like taking a picture of a room with these in lamp sockets for a cool natural effect. They only have one level of output, but that's easily modified with umbrellas, socks, snoots etc. They are an excellent low cost flash solution. They trigger easily using my D40 with a SB400 in manual flash mode (even with the lowest power setting). One other thing not mentioned is they do include PC sync cords.

Works fine

I bought two of the units to use in setting up for taking pictures of church members for a church directory. The units work fine and have a bit more output than I thought they would have. Plenty to bounce off the ceiling or wall or in our case, a piece of poster board. It's too early to offer an opinion about the durability.

Excellent!

Very-very-nice strobe! Use it to light my home-made softbox. The strobe is really powerful, so I either move the softbox further or add additional layers inside. Recharge time is around 3 or 4 sec, which is fast enough for me. I use a cheap wireless trigger to sync the strobe with the camera - works just fine! Planning to buy another one to light the background. Don't see any cons, besides the fact that you can't reduce the output, but it would be silly to expect this for such a price :)

Good value in a basic fill flash.

If they were smart, Adorama would list the umbrella/socket in the accessories list.

Update to my previous review

Had a pair of these AC Master slaves setup on a lightbox to do product shots for [...]. Last night one of them made a loud popping sound and wouldn't fire again. Sounds like the capacitor blew as the strobe tube didn't look burned or damaged. Kind of a bummer, but I'm afraid to waste money on another one.

Good cheap light

Very versatile, quick recycling little lights. Extremely sensitive and will trigger off my Canon S70 flash set at -2 stops flash comp. The PC sync is a great feature as well. I have a pair of these in cheap desk lamp clamps pointed at a 26" light box. And I just plug in the PC cord to my Canon 40D, F16 at ISO 100 gives the perfect exposure.

good cheap fun learning tool

I use it with one to three AC slave Mates. The PC cord is kinda' frail. An inexpensive way to learn some basic lighting concepts and have some fun. I had ordered some colered lenses to go with but they didn't fit, there had been a design change and the lens was too small if I remember. No, they aren't pro lights but a lot of fun for the money.

Love IT! and I plan on buying more.

I purchased two of these as an inexpensive start to a studio and I am very pleased with the results. They have given me consistant results and for the most part are very reliable. They are so easy to use once you figure out the exposures and placement that it will be along time before I make the jump to more expensive studio lighting. Only bad thing is that there is no modeling light. I would suggest that you purchase the filter kit for this flash for some really great lighting effects.

Very pleased

I bought two of the LATCMS, plus one of the JTS-20 AC slave strobes. All three exceeded my expectations. My only concern was that the house brand LTACMS lamps were marked "100 V" and I have 120 Volt service. [...] I decided to plug them in for 8 hours and see if they went POOF. They seem perfectly content. Like the JTS-20, they trigger if they are even remotely within sight of another flash, even facing the wrong way from the master flash. I am totally impressed with their sensitivity, especially for such a low price item.
