Shopper : Will this work with Minolta/Sony flashes?KEN S : I can't really answer your question. I can say it does work with my canon and an old Vivitar 2800D Nikon flash first hand. I think the minolta/Sony flashes require a reversed mount - male and female are switched. I have seen mount adapters but..... I'm sure a Sony shooter could tell you exactly. Adorama costumer service should know also. Anyhow best KDSJOSEPH S : I picked a few of these up for Nikon sb900 speedlights , sb900's are known for being a tough fit in most cold shoes , these Frio units work perfectly . I cant imagine any standard speelight not fitting in these cold shoes.RONN T : Im pretty sure flash shoe sizes are univeral. even with my canon flashes this is loose.. until I tighten the flash onto it. So if your flashes can be locked or tightened in any way. I would say they more than likely would work.MIKAEL O : Though I am not familiar with Minolta/Sony flashes, the flash shoes on any flash is standard, so it should work. The problems occur only when you are looking for a HOT shoe, in which case you need to make sure the pin configuration works, but that is not the case here. In fact, the Frio is better than other coldshoes, because there is no risk of it shorting your flash, since plastic is not conductive. It's also safer than the traditional cold shoes, since it locks the flash in place. I've had flashes fall out of cold shoes that I though were fully tightened - that doesn't happen with Frio. You can't go wrong with these - I've got five of them and I love them.NIEVES G : I use it with Canon flashes. According to manufacturer information, it works with almost all flashes on market.STU F : Should work with any flash with a standard size shoe.

Awesome Shoe Mount

Overall, this is an awesome accessory. The double locking mechanism allows me to feel comfortable in knowing that my flash is safe. Be careful not to twist the frio. The lateral strength is not that good. I had to replace one when it broke.

A Must Have

These are just perfect for attaching off camera flash units to brackets or light stands. They have a positive lock that will not release unless pushed saving your expensive flash from a hit to the floor!

Your speedlights deserve these!

These little guys are worth their weight in gold. They allow for solid attachment of $$$ speedlights and Pocket Wizard Flex TT5 triggers. If you've got well over $500 (think SB-900 and a PW) on a lightstand, then spending a few more dollars to snug things down is a no-brainer. I really like that they have a provision for the Nikon and PW locking pins. The correct ratio of Frios to flashes is 1:1

Absolutely love it! Should have 6 stars.

My only question is why it took so long for somebody to invent it? This is head and shoulders above units with screws and springs to lose. It is simple and works. I got my first one at the Adorama sponsored McNalley/Hobby FlashBus Tour. Once I saw how it worked, I immediately ordered another. If you have a flash to mount on a light stand or something similar, buy this.

Nice little cold shoe

How imaginative. A cold shoe called "Frio" which is Spanish for "cold". Name aside. This is a nice little flash mount. Extra nice in that it has the little hole to accept the locking pin on Nikon flashes and apparently also has features that lock Canon flashes in place too. Not to mention the extra safety measure of the plastic tab at the back to hold the flash from slipping out even if it's not locked in place otherwise. It is meant to be used on a threaded stand however. It can't be used alone to keep a flash standing upright on a floor, table or other surface.

Overall, this is an awesome accessory. The double locking mechanism allows me to feel comfortable in knowing that my flash is safe. Be careful not to twist the frio. The lateral strength is not that good. I had to replace one when it broke.

The Frio is a cold shoe that allows the mounting of any accessory that uses a shoe-mount, onto a light stand, tripod or other mounting system that uses a ¼-20thread.

What's unique about it is the handy locking feature that keeps the mounted accessory, typically a flash, firmly locked in place without the need to tighten down a locking ring or lever. While it is still recommended that the user tighten the flash, it will no longer be an accident waiting to happen should they forget.

In addition, the Frio features a slot on the front to hang a remote flash trigger.

Perhaps one of the biggest benefits of the Frio is how fast it allows the photographer to mount and un-mount their equipment! Speed and convenience in a small, inexpensive package.
