Marshall Electronics VS-PTC-200 Compact PTZ Camera Controller with 4D Joystick

The VS-PTC-200 was purchased to augment our 30x opt PTZ camera. Our venue holds live concerts multiple times a week. We use a tripod mounted Sony FDR AX43 at our control booth and (4) Zoom Q2n-4k's on-stage. The PTZ is ceiling mounted midway in the venue. We had been using the supplied remote control with the PTZ to operate its functions, but it was tricky to press the correct button in the dark and sometimes you would hit more than one button or the wrong one. This is where the backlit and large keys come in handy, and the joystick really is an improvement over the arrow keys of the remote control. The initial set-up was not too difficult, we are using the RS 232 wire to control our PTZ which is hooked into our AVMatrix with HDMI. Each concert will require different pre-programmed hard stops for focal points. It is a breeze to program these during sound checks. I imagine the stage broken up into 9 quadrants (#7- #9 being the back left, middle, and right of the stage. #4- #6 being the middle left, dead middle and middle right of the stage. #1- #3 are front left, front middle and front right of the stage.) I use the joystick to focus on the drummer, press the #8 key then quickly press the "set" button. I do this for all 9 numbers of the keypad, so easy. "0" I reserve for a full stage focus. If you set the frame and focuses the same for #1 and #3, when your currently on #1 then press the #3 key, the PTZ will smoothly pan from left to right across the stage, makes for a great effect. This was something I used to do with our camcorder, but the video would be shaky because of my arm. The back lit screen automatically comes on which is nice and the buttons are large enough so as not to accidentally hit 2 at once. We've only been using this for a few months but have had no troubles, it's easy to use and set-up. Nothing bad to say about it.

The Marshall Electronics VS-PTC-200 Compact PTZ Camera Controller is by far the best controller we have used at the church, it is very easy to use. I recommend this Marshall Electronics VS-PTC-200 Compact PTZ Camera Controller to anyone that looking for and up upgrade.
