Questions & Answers

Shopper : Does this adapter work with the Sony a6000? Havent seen that model addressed specifically. Im assuming it does so=ince the a6000 has the same mount as the A7 & A7R... thanks in advance!ALEXANDROS M : It works with all Sony E mount camerasJAMES F : yes it works with the A6000Stuart M : Cannot confirm that specific model... just use mine on A7 and A7r.. works as described...
Shopper : Does this Metabones Mark III adapter work with the Sony a7S?GERALD A : As far as I know it will. It works on the NEX 5 and the a7r, and it appears that the a7s is the same basic electronics.Tim A : This will adapt any Canon EF mount lens to any of the Sony a7 series (a7, a7R, a7S).HAROLD S : Sorry that I don't have personal experience to help answer your question. Logically, if Sony lenses made for the NEX-5 also fit your camera (without an adapter), the metabones product should attach to your camera as well as it does to the NEx-5.DAVID S : YesRALPH C : I have only used it with a Sony fs100 & fs700. I would think that if the A7S has an E mount it should work, but I'd verify that. Hope this helps.Stuart M : It works fine with my a7 and 7r bodies..... if you intend to use it for video with the 7s I would be concerned about the speed and and consistency of the 'auto' functions.... the auto focus works but it is slow. I have only tried a couple newer EF lenses with it and am doubting if all work or work equally well. I actually prefer the Canon FD lenses with an inexpensive adapter. They are completely manual but rock solid. I think a Sony 28 to 70 'kit' lens would be great for video and clean used ones are only slightly more costly than the Metabones itself. My 28 to 70 if fine for general shots and reacts very positively on the 7 and 7r. Stuart
Oletater S : Does the adapter have a tripod mount ?ANDREW R : From the product features: "The tripod foot is detachable and compatible with Arca Swiss, Markins, Photo cam ball heads"

So Far, So Good

I purchased this product after research seemed to prove it was the best choice for my application. I bought it to connect a new Sony A7R body to an extensive selection of Canon EF and L lenses. So far I have been impressed with the performance and it seems to mirror the advertising the Metabones web site states. I have tested tilt and shift, prime, small zoom and large zoom (all Canon) and found no unusual problems other than occasional slow focus and that was clearly stated as a possiblity in several reviews. The adapter is well made, fits both camera and lens combination securely and the tripod mount works well to remove additional weight strain between the lens and camera combination.

Does Exactly What It's Supposed To Do

While I certainly wish this had the ability to support autofocus, it isn't a huge deal for landscape stuff. The Metabones adapter is small, light and doesn't get in the way. The only thing that could be better is that when attaching Canon lenses to it, the fit is very very tight. So much so that there are actually rub marks on the contact surfaces of my lenses. I'm sure it's not a big deal but it could be smoother. Also doesn't seem to change the image quality at all.

Lets re-think this one

Yes the auto-focus works but its so slow. With the A7R I always manual focus. If I could I would buy a cheaper adapter that passes aperture and lens info but does not autofocus.

Solid

Works as advertised, focus is a little slow but it's accurate and allows for full aperture control, EXIF, IS, etc. It's a little "tight" mounting to lenses, that's the only real negative.

Great Adapter...Works As Promised

This works exactly as described and is of the highest quality. The only drawback to this is that when you put a canon lens on the camera with the adapter you suddenly have a much larger camera. If you like the Nex cameras for their size this could me a drawback, but really the only one. Great product!
