When you seek a synthesizer that combines the warmth of analog with the precision of digital, the DELIA 49-Key Motorized Morphing Polyphonic Synthesizer stands out as a remarkable choice. Inspired by the innovative design of Melbourne Instruments' NINA, DELIA features a 49-key velocity and aftertouch-sensitive keyboard, offering musicians a dynamic and expressive playing experience. This bi-timbral polysynth introduces new multi-mode analog filters, high-pass and low-pass resonance control, a 3-stage overdrive, and endless modulation possibilities, making it a versatile tool for sound designers and performers alike.
DELIA's unique architecture blends true analog filters with virtual analog modeling, preserving the rich, overdriveable sound of analog ladder filters while leveraging a digital front end to manage modelled VCOs, wavetables, and high-pass filters. This powerful hybrid setup is further enhanced by DELIA's 12-note mode, which utilizes 12 complete oscillator banks into six filters, minimizing note stealing and maximizing its bi-timbral capabilities.
At the heart of DELIA's sound engine are its discrete multi-mode filters. The true analog low-pass filter delivers a sound that is both warm and aggressive, while the high-pass modeled ladder filter can be linked for bandpass and notch operations. With 12 and 24dB slopes and separate high/low pass resonance controls, DELIA offers extensive sound-shaping potential. The innovative 'LINK' function maintains a constant width bandpass, allowing for seamless manual control and modulation sweeps.
DELIA's filters are a blend of analog and digital components per voice. The analog section features a classic discrete transistor ladder filter with selectable 24dB or 12dB per octave operation, complemented by an analog variable overdrive circuit that can drive the filter from subtle warmth to intense distortion. The digital high-pass filter is a precise mathematical model of a 24dB ladder filter, ensuring a close match to the analog response, including overdrive and resonance characteristics.
The synthesizer's motorized control panel offers a seamless workflow with its 'MOD MODE,' automating the Modulation Matrix setup. As you navigate through the 20 MOD sources, each knob adjusts to reflect the active modulation amount, eliminating the need for constant manual adjustments. DELIA's A/B Morph function allows for real-time exploration and transformation of timbres, creating new sounds by morphing between A and B patches, with the entire modulation matrix included.
DELIA's built-in sequencer provides two modes: Step Sequencer and Phrase Looper. The Step Sequencer supports bi-timbral operation up to 16 steps, while the Phrase Looper can handle up to 2000 notes with no time or overdub limits. This flexibility allows for intricate layering and evolving soundscapes, enhanced by DELIA's A/B Morph capabilities.
Building on the legacy of NINA, DELIA incorporates features like 4-Quadrant Analog VCAs, Patch Morphing, Digital Effects, and a Digital Wavetable Oscillator. It expands on these with Sequencer Phrase Looping, Overdubbing, and an Effects Macro control for favorite effects parameters. Under the hood, DELIA boasts virtual analog oscillators with cross-modulation, 20 MOD sources, and over 40 MOD destinations, offering an expansive palette for sound creation. Two digital effects processors with classic presets can run in series or parallel, providing creative freedom.
The high-definition LCD screen offers waveform, wavetable, and envelope visualizers, delivering instant feedback and control over nearly every function. With the capacity to save over 16,000 presets, DELIA ensures that your creative potential is never limited by memory constraints.
