JERRY J : Does the Metabones Canon adapter work with a Canon Zoom Lens EF 16-35mm 1:2.8?Jason C : I have this exact lens & setup and don't seem to have any electronic control (IS, Focus, Iris) with the BMPCC buttons. Between BM's and Metabones' websites, I still can't be certain if I have a defective unit(s) or non-compatibility issue, in which I should only expect to use this for crop factor and the light boost.MARK W : Yes, it does work with mine.ROBERT M : Hello Jerry,
I would say yes. I do not own your lens but I own the 17-40mm F4 and that works very well. There is a limit on aperture gain however you will have the full advantage. I hope this helps.
Robert MMIKAEL G : Yup! It works with almost all EF lenses. No EF-S lenses though.Christopher Q : Yes, it does.BRETT M : I haven't tried it with that particular lens but it has worked with all of my EF AND EFS mount lenses (15 lenses total). I don't think you'll have any issues.MATTHEW W : I use it with the Sigma 18-35mm F/1.8 DC HSM ART Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras which has a Canon EF mount. I like the Sigma if you're looking to buy a lens in this range.DOUGLAS H : Metabones lists this as being compatable, but I went another route I purchased a 17-40 f4.0L saved enough to cover the adapter and I still have a lens that is equil to having an f2.4 One of the first thing I noticed with the adapter is it really takes advantage of the sweet spot of a lens. A con to the speed booster is it pretty much refuses to function with my 85mm f1.2 mk2 and after my initial install the adapter would not come off the camera body and had to be sent to Metabones. To their credit Adorama'so customer service handled everything and I had a working camera and adapter in under 5 days. Lastly I don't know how much Cannon glass you have but for budget filmmaking you can't go wrong wit Rokinion and the new DS lenses after seeing the results between my L series lenses and these it's a no brainer for me especially with the 85mm L's problems, all lens gears are positioned the Sam and a constant T1.5 throughout 80% of the line. Best of luck on how ever you decide to go.JOSHUA R : Yes. If the lens is an EF mount, it will fit on this adapter.NICHOLAS M : it does, I've used this lens specifically with it.PAUL G : I'm using the Nikon mount speed booster not canon but it does work great...very bright and increases field of view on the bmpcc.
Shopper : My copy of this BMPCC Speedbooster has some play between the camera body and the device (the speedbooster->lens is nice and tight), is this typical of this adapter?MONTGOMERY S : My speedbooster has an extremely tight fit with the BMPCC... as does my Nikon-BMPCC speed booster. So tight that I thought I might do damage the first couple times I used it. Now it's still perfectly snug after months of frequent use.MATTHEW W : I did not have any play between the BMPCC and the BMPCC speedbooster. Both connections are solid.William C : My copy is very tight on the camera, and what I would consider normal to the lens. In fact it is so tight to the camera I was initially reluctant to mount it, it seems to have eased a little now after several removals.
So with respect to your question I do not have the same experience.TYSON P : I have two Metabones BMPCC NIK G to MFT Speed Boosters. The first one I purchased has an incredibly tight fit between the SB and the camera mount. It's hard to get on and off the camera, so I leave it on permanently. Lenses mount to the adapter fine.
The second SB (ordered 9 months later) has a firm, but workable fit with the BMPCC, but the lens mount on the SB adapter is way too tight.
I have 15 emails back and forth to customer support at Metabones-- and their support is non-existent. They don't acknowledge problems and they don't understand English. The optics on both SB's are very good, but the very second an alternative to Metabones comes on the scene, I will switch to that manufacturer immediately.BRETT M : I have two adapters and two pocket cameras and they all fit very tight, no play at all.CARLOS T : My copy is right and snug to camera body. I haven't experienced the looseness that you're talking about... Additionally, I need to say that this is te second copy of the adaptor I had to get. The first adaptor sent by Adorama had a missing screw that fell out when I first opened the Metabones box. I called Adorama, told them and requested an RMA. I highly suggest doing the same if something doesn't feel right about the fit of the adaptor.BROCK L : Yeah, it's made to be like that. The lens of the metabooster is a few millimeters away from the sensor, (which is why they made it fit as tight as they did) so they make the fitting just right and tight. which is also recommended when traveling to not keep the metabones on, I've heard cases that shocks or bumps can damage the camera sensor or lens.
Congrats on getting the Speedbooster I love mine and use it almost all the time.BLAINE W : Yes this is typical.MARCUS T : My BMPCC Speedbooster is pretty snug with the camera body. There's very little play.JOSHUA R : I don't think so. Mine is really snug between the camera body and the adapter. I've also worked with a similar adapter (bmpcc metabones to Nikon F) and that one is pretty snug as well.JONATHAN W. H : If anything, mine was a little too tight on cinema lenses. I used some Canon Cinema Primes on the BMPCC and they worked but were awfully tight. We are using the Tokina 11-16mm and the Canon 24-70 L lens with no problems. The cheap plastic body Canon 50mm 1.8 works on it as well. But my adapter is snug to the body.DON M : Mine still has a very tight connection to lens and camera. Although the mounting plate screw holes where somehow... stripped and basically useless. I almost dropped my camera and everything before finding out the screw holes were stripped. I rented the this speed booster from a rental house before purchasing my own. The rental house's speed booster had a loose connection to the BMPCC...
But when I purchased mine. It have a (almost to tight) connection to camera and lens. I use a Tamron 24-70 and an canon 50mm 1.8.
Don Markus.
Corey D : Since the BMPCC is an MFT mount, would this also work on a Panasonic GH4?ANDREW R : From the product overview: "It is designed specifically for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera and features built-in electronics which lets to set the lens aperture using the controls on the camera body."
