Questions & Answers

Teresa B : Is it compatible with the Sony slt-99?DEAN S : It was not compatible with my A77 so I'm betting that it isn't. I replaced it with the Kenko and had no problems after that.LARRY L : It should be compatible. It works on the slt-77M2. The mount will fit, and the electrical contacts are the same for both bodies. It produces great results with the macro lens.
Barb T : Will this work with my new Sony alpha 7II?ADAM K : Yes, my understanding is that the a7li uses a full-frame A-type mount that is the same spec. as earlier Sony Alpha and Minolta lens mounts. If my assumption is not correct, and your camera uses an E-type lens mount, there are adaptors available that can still allow you to use these tubes, but there may also be tubes that fit the E-type mount directly as well, not requiring any additional adaptor. I would refer to your manual for more information on the mount your camera has.GEORGE R : I don/t know.BYRON M : I would think soTOM L : Hi Barb, first of all congratulations! Secondly, yes, but. In order to use this, you need an adapter from the full-frame e-mount to a-mount, wherein you'll insert these tubes. Keep in mind, though, the adapter already adds a level of distance between the lens and the sensor, so that already acts like a tube. Adding this on top of that may leave you with something totally unfocusable, especially with very wide lenses. Cheers, TomRICHARD S : Not sure about the Sony alpha 7ll but they work perfect on my Sony SLT-A65.JIM M : No these fit cameras with Sony ' s A series lens mount which is the same as a Minolta autofocus lens mount which is different than the a 711DEAN S : Unable to assist on this one. I don't have an Alpha 711.
RICHARD S : Will this work as advertised on my Sony SLT a65?JIM M : Yes, These will work with any Sony A mount camera, (which is what the A65 is) or any Minolta or Konika Minolta M mount camera.JOHN B : The extension tubes are well made, and I use them for my macro work. But I can tell you that the auto focus will not work correctly, and if you have focus peaking on your a65 it will not work.ELAINE H : Best I can do is tell you that it works just fine on my A77. IF the a65 takes the same lenses as the A77 it should be okay.

sloppy quality

Unable to get them to work properly due to sloppy build quality. The control arms stick, causing improper exposure of pictures. The connection to the camera also seems sloppy, allowing for wiggling of the lens. Sent them back. (The Pro Optic ones I got look exactly like the pictures of the Vivitar set on this site, and the Vivitars got many bad reviews on the internet. I was trying to avoid them, but it looks like the 2 brands may in fact be the same product.)

Poor quality

Not worth the trouble. I am returning my second set of these Pro Optic/Flashpoint tubes. Both sets were poorly put together. The iris control arms have so much drag in them that the iris doesn't snap back properly. Because of this, all pictures I've taken at anything other than max aperature are over exposed. With the first set, the 22mm had this problem. With the second set, both the 22 and 13mm have the same problem. In addition, the connections on the tubes are sloppy, causing my camera lose communication with the lens. This causes the view finder to go completely white, and then slowly redisplay the image. This happens repeatedly while working with a single subject.

Great low cost macro option

I used the extension tubes on a recent trip and was very impressed with the quality of the images. As with any macro photography the dpth of "in focus" is shallow, but if you compose with that in mind the photos can be stunning. Use these tubes to turn your existing lenses into close focusing macro lenses inexpensively!

Good value.

So far I have used the tubes for macros and with my telephoto for getting close up for subjects like flowers and insects. The only problem is trying to figure out which combination of tubes to use with various lenses for different purposes. But that is a problem with my knowledge, not with the tubes. With my Sony A-33, there is no autofocus possible. But this is no hardship, as I would probably want to focus manually anyway.

Great product

In response to the reviewer who said that this product is not auto-focus, I beg to differ. I use them with three different models of Sony Alfa cameras and they do auto focus. However, the set of tubes that I received looks a bit different and is trademarked "Meike" and not "pro-Optic". Maybe you should check that out.
