Questions & Answers

ROBERT O : does it work on all canon lenes(efs lens) ?PETER V : Hello Robert, My experience with this macro zoomer is limited, I used it only in combination with my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L macro. It worked quite good, but already after a few times using it the outer part was disconnected from the inner part. So I couldn't use it and had to return it.JASON K : It does not work on the Macro efs 60mm. I had hoped it would. I tried it on my ef 70-300 and it works, but then i is already a zoomJACK T : it works fine with all lenses that will work with the eos camerasJESSE R : I'm not sure about "all" Canon lens but it works on all my Canon lens including my EF lens. RUBEN V : Yes it does. There are electronic contacts within the Macro Zoomer that transmits auto focus, aperture and metadata (focal length, aperture, etc), to the camera.
Richard H : I am using a 24-105 L lens on a 5DMk2. I am hoping that I can increase f-stop from wide open to allow for a little depth of field/focus to allow for a wider area of sharp focus. (Know I will have to have plenty of light) Will this Macro Zoomer give me this capability?PETER V : I have used the Pro Optic Helicoid Zoomer in combination with my Canon macro lens - EF 100 mm f/2.8 L . This combination worked pretty good, however by using this Zoomer I lost one step in light to the sensor because of the extended length. I was quite satisfied with this product untill the external housing seperated from the inner part. I had to return it. I don't have experience with the combination 24-105 L lens on a 5DMk2.WESLEY P : The more space you put between the camera and lens, the less will be in focus. You can correct this by either purchasing software that will interweave multiple exposures, or by stopping down on the camera and using a sturdy tripod. I use extension tubes, stop down to f 22, set the camera on a tripod, use either a timer or remote and wait.LINDA H : It's unlikely that you'll be happy with this item. I found that it was virtually impossible to focus on anything at any distance, also it makes the focusing very slow. I returned it for those reasons as well as the fact that it did not connect solidly to my camera.JACK T : yes.
Shopper : My main concern is being able to adjust f-stop. Will this allow for varying the f-stop?JACK T : yesANDREW R : This unit does offer electronic coupling between the lens and the camera body and should allow for aperture adjustment.

Not a good product

The macro zoomer was loose fitting on the camera body and would not release from the lens without a fight. It did work as claimed while attached but not worth the time it took to remove it from the lens. I'm sticking to my extension rings.

I'd recommend

I only gave it 4 stars because I think a macro lens would probably be the best thing, but I really this tube and the price is right. I was having trouble finding a macro extender to fit my Canon camera as I have an EFS lens and extenders don't fit these. A friend found this one and it is a great tube for use on an EFS lens for a Macro shot ... it is very easy to attach and light weight. One drawback is that it doesn't easily fit into your pocket (unless you have on a jacket) but will easily fit into a fanny pack, back pack or camera bag. I really like this tube for shots of small flowers (or the insides of flowers) and insects, which is why I wanted it in the first place!
